scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

there is a better close-up in the paper. well, maybe not better. scarier, anyway.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

There should be a seperate "can anyone explain Bruce Willis's face?" thread.

winterland, Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

he looks like a smacked ass

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

his face has a certain 'this'll win Demi back for sure' kinda look

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

His ankles look pretty, though.

kirsten (kirsten), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

which Matthew Perry has noticed it seems

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post, or is it

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

From the director of Pretty in Pink.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw a billboard for the movie and I noticed that as well. Maybe all that hard living from the "Bruno" years finally caught up with him? He doesn't look a day under 68.

Gear! (Gear!), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

From the director of Pretty in Pink.

aka bowels of Lucifer

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

he looks sickly.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

still, they're making die hard 4: die hardest.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Howard Deutch directed Grumpier Old Men AND The Odd Couple II !!!

"Saw what you did with the grumpy series, Howard, I really think you are our guy to tackle that incorrigible odd couple".

(does he cry himself to sleep at night?)

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha! I thought of posting this too. Maybe it's bad photoshopping.

At a tangent, the guy who played James in Twin Peaks is 37. 37!

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

He looks like Dana Carvey doing the "Turtle Guy" in that Master of Disguise movie.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, is that Harry Caray guy in the middle Kevin Pollak??

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

He reminds me of a whippet in that picture.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I could see Billy Mackenzie beating him into shape for a laugh.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Can Someone Explain Bruce Willis's Face On My TV Screen To Me Right Now? And Why Am I Not Watching The Chelski-VS-Arse Live Thing Instead??

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

T\'\'t, I'm disappointed in you. Turn that sucker on now!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, The Korrekt Answer However Is: My Daughter Is A BruceW Fan Of Some Passion And No Way Can I Watch Footie At The Time When Any Ol' Br'Movie Is Shown... Yeah, Yeah. The Kids. Are Alright.
*weeps quietly, listens to resonance fm, reads ile*

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait, the Whole TEN Yards? Why did this happen?

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I can only assume this means that Fools Continue To Rush In is in pre-production.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)

The Return of the Last Boy Scout

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

His chin has been badly photoshopped (especially along his right side). I'm imagining that they were trying to get rid of whatever double chin he's developed, or perhaps some kind of loose-skin turkey neck thing.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

is the hat photoshopped on?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, it looks that way.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh, I didn't even realize it was a sequel.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone have any info on this tidbit (from allmovie)?

He had less to laugh about after his participation in a racial incident during his senior year that got him expelled until his father hired a lawyer and Willis was allowed to graduate.

Magic City (ano ano), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe his harmonica-playing caused a riot.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

(And The Friggin' Movie Ain't Ended Yet, And I dunno-no-no-no Even How The Game Finished)
*starts to take to slightly disliking bruce tonite*

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

"Reserving Sara"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

my personal favorite thing about the movie poster is how they have two supposedly hunky guys with their names giant across the top and then two pretty women drooling over them, nameless. could just be me though.

j c (j c), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

If you were Amanda Peet, would you advertise the fact?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

if i were amanda peet, yes, i think i would.

it's not like people are going to see the movie for the ACTING anyway.

j c (j c), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The Whole Ten Yards is the suckiest sequel title that isn't Ocean's Twelve.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

what about i still know what you did last summer?

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

"I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" featured Brandy catching a knife, though.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought this thread was going to be reporting a miraculous apparition.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I CANNOT STOP CLICKING ON THAT LINK OH GOD HELP ME

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

When did Matthew Perry become the kind of actor who only requires a surname on a poster? I thought that was the reserve of, say, de Niro or Pacino.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

When did Matthew Perry turn into a buxom blonde with an insouciant smirk and a trendy hat????

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:32 (twenty-one years ago)

And really, I want to make a T-shirt that features a gigantic fuck-off close-up of Bruce Willis's face from that poster.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

also, what the holy crap is bruce willis WEARING?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously, that's the best picture Bruce Willis will ever take! It could bring joy to the downtrodden and dispossessed!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I think he's wearing a skort!

Aaron A., Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Vanessa Redgrave IS Bruce Willis

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Has no one mentioned the chicken? It's almost like someone said, "You know what, so much is fucked up in this photo that I'll bet we could put a chicken in it and no one would blink."

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

it's sharing floor space with bunny slippers. how can it compete?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

The slippers have a function! They go on feet! The chicken is purely gratuitous.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Chickens have a function too. The function of those slippers is surely just to add to the overall bizarro feel of that whole picture. As with the chicken.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I think in the trailers its implied he owns a chicken farm or some such shit. I think the poster is supposed to remind you of the hilarity that will make you see this film twice.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

amanda peet's teeth would come in hand when i re-mulch the flower beds this spring

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

He also was wearing that outfit in the trailer cuz he's all domesticated now. And that's what househusbands wear, right?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Who's the guy between WILLIS and PERRY? It seems as though he's supposed to be an old dude, but he looks much younger than Willis.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

It's Kevin Pollak in horrible make-up.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Matthew Perry really that much more famous than Kevin Pollak?

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to see the movie because the poster makes me confident that it will finally answer the question, "what's the deal with old guys and enormous glasses?"

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure they want to point out that it's Pollack since Pollack seems to be playing Peter Falk.

(re: all the amazement etc. upthread, people know that the first movie did really well, right?)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Colin: yes.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Tep, are you sure it did that well? It seems like it came and went pretty fast.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't mean it did well like Titanic did, but it was one of those "holy crap, this is doing so much better than we thought it would!" things that gets contracts signed quickly, like My Big Fat Greek Sitcom. And it's a comedy, so it probably did better on DVD.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

After Cheaper Than The Dozen came, made 100 million and went without me even knowing it existed, I no longer assume I can tell what's sequel-worthy.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Cost about 24 mill, made about 60 according to IMDB.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

(Judging from imdb, its main run was a month and a half and then it lingered for another month.)

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Huh, I remember being really surprised when my then-girlfriend told me she saw it.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Elf is the 80th largest grossing film of all time in the US. Holy Shit.

Bruce Almighty is the 31st. I'm in shock.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Keep in mind that ticket prices and the number of places showing movies have soared in recent years.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if they ever bother to compile lists of top selling movies by number of tickets instead of number of dollars (or if there's necessarily feasible, even).

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yikes! I just looked at the photo gallery on the movie site. bad idea. it's like 1985 all over again. except bruce has aged 400 years and has started going to mickey roarke's face-buffer.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
I stumbled across this thread searching through the archives and that picture and the attendant remarks have made me cry with laghter.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 14 July 2005 02:24 (twenty years ago)

Nice to see Bruce still wearing the vest that made him famous.

Also, in the gallery, his hat looks photoshopped in every time. I suspect it wasn't in the original, then there was a Spielberg style digital adjustment.

Sasha (sgh), Thursday, 14 July 2005 03:17 (twenty years ago)

best movie ever:

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 14 July 2005 03:31 (twenty years ago)

or a smacked-out ass.

president carter loves repetition (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 14 July 2005 03:32 (twenty years ago)

his outfit is making me think of Momus.
