Having been bombarded with adverts for this sub-1992 Comedy Central bullshit all week, I have to ask-who still likes this "Men Are from Mars and don't call bitches after sex" shit?

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I"m ont exactly sure what you're talking about, but I live in Canada.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

you're lucky :) It's this one-man show where the guy talks about all the ways men and women are different ('when a man says he'll call you, he means BEFORE HE DIES') and then they cut to stock footage of audience laughter reminiscent of the SNL sketch ('it was much better than "Cats"!).

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's for people who haven't quite graduated yet to the nimble wit of jackie mason.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

men be insensitive!

observational cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

in other news: women still be motherfuckin' shopping

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

When a woman asks "Does this make me look fat?" keep your big mouth shut.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

that kinda thing?

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

"it's not the pants"

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I was *so* hoping this would be an archeology thread. :-(

Taking sides: Neolithic vs. Mesolithic or something, you know?

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:07 (twenty-one years ago)

From the thread title, I expected news of some new right-wing book, maybe Ann Coulter was really going for the gold.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Or maybe a celebration of garage rock?

"Be a caveman! Oh! Oh! Keep her in line!"

I'd totally go see "Defending the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer"

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Donna, do you live in Chicago? They've been showing ads for this thing so long, we're already a fashion generation removed from what the candid interviewees are wearing.

Baked Bean Teeth (Baked Bean Teeth), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I lived in Chicago, except there would still be no escape. They must have splinter touring companies a la Man or Astroman?

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh God is he still doing that show? Now I can't remember his name. He's from San Francisco, this was his standup act in like 1988, he never bothered to write new material, he was one of the first comics to spin his shit into a "one man show". Other SF comics used to do wicked mean impersonations of him if prompted.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Rob Becker

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

haha that's it. he sucks.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

The longest running solo show in Broadway history. Beating out, indeed, Jackie Mason.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

"beating"

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Everytime this commercial comes on I think I'm watching some sketch comedy show that is paroding this type of thing.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 8 April 2004 06:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish :(

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Thursday, 8 April 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this sweeping the Midwest? They've been (or were, I don't remember the last time I saw it) running ads for it at every damn break on the local stations. It looked bad enough I thought it was some local student thing until this thread.

(This is the kind of thing I was making fun of at the beginning of the "have you ever really, really really ever lived with a woman" thread.)
