i finally got my tattoo touched up and slightly expanded upon. OUCH. i know - duh. but i honestly don't remember it hurting this much 4 years ago when i got it done originally. my arm is on fire and i'm cranky.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 02:53 (twenty-one years ago)

remind of what it feels like, i'm getting another one soon

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

it feels like someone scraping and burning you continually! and you can't tell them to stop because you want them to do it, sort of. i think i must have blocked out how annoying it is.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

how big is your tatt?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:03 (twenty-one years ago)

what's it of?

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

it's about 7 inches long and about 5-6 inches wide in most parts, more where it wraps around my arm. the underside bit does not feel nice.

xpost

it's bettie page as a mermaid. what's up, rockabilly.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Kustom Kulture in the house

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:07 (twenty-one years ago)

at least it's not a coop devil girl.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:07 (twenty-one years ago)

At least you haven't had 'restless' tattooed right in the middle of your back, which looks FABULOUS when you're fat and wear hot pink bra and thong in display mode. If you ever see such a person, destroy using the 'kill a harp seal' method.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:07 (twenty-one years ago)

at least it isn't a tattoo that says Vegan Love on it. oohhh.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:38 (twenty-one years ago)

the dude who cuts my hair said he's saving up his money to get this elaborate scene of hell from a bosch done as a sleeve, 12-14 hours of work. crazy.

g--ff (gcannon), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine really didn't hurt that much when I had them done. It was more like an annoyance than a pain. Well, maybe I didn't notice cause I had menstrual cramps at the time, and hell, THAT was pain so I didn't notice the tattooing.

What really bugged me was the itching and the burning and peeling and the aching afterwards. It was like the worst sunburn you'd ever had, magnified by a hundred.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, yeah. that's what's driving me crazy right now. sleeping last night was not fun. i kept trying to turn over on to my left side and waking up yelping.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh! Ouch! I remember that! I also remember malicious friends who would walk up to me and gently sock me in the arm as a "friendly" gesture, causing spasms of pain.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, mine didn't hurt at ALL, although I understand that the place where you have it makes a difference in pain - mine's on my shoulderblade. I am a big old pain wimp, too.

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I sat next to my wife while she had her tattoo retouched. I faint really easily, but I juuuuust managed to keep it together that day.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

hehe, does it say "@d@ml4life"?

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

arm underside definitely hurts.

we're half-sleeving my left and i'm being a real pussy about the underside. that pisses my artist off. :(

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

gygax - Yes, and the image is like the cover of Lovesexy, but with me instead of Prince.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i've heard from several tattoo artists that it's usually the people who accompany the tattoo-ee that faint. a lot of the time, the subject doesn't really look at what's happening, while the supportive friend gets an eyeful of needles, bleeding, etcetera.

i feel like my artist is sneakily trying to ease me towards a half-sleeve. she added some things that definitely would blend into a larger piece!

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

This guy is gonna have this on him for the rest of his life.

he is my hero.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

or hiro, take your pick.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i never watch the actual goings-on.

my artist is super-picky and hates half the ideas i have. out of the five people i've had work on me he has the heaviest hand as well. OW

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i think it would be hard to faint while being repeatedly jabbed by a needle!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i almost did on my first one (lower left back). The position and the quesiness brought nearly did me in. He told me he kinda was hoping I would black out so he could just finish it in peace.

you don't really feel needles jabbing in and out so much as the scraping/burning others discussed. After about a half hour, the wiping off of the blood with a paper towel hurts me ten times worse than the actual needlegun.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yup. a lot of it comes down to the fact that the same bits of skin are getting jabbed over and over again. you get really, really sore. shading/filling in is so much worse to me than an outline.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick, that's what's on my shoulderblade! :-)

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

that Hello Kitty tattoo is HOTT

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

But you're not gonna be an old man one day!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Kid: Grandpa, what's that tattoo on your arm?
Hello Grampy: Well once upon a time, after the Kaiser declared Afroken captain of Mogadishu...

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

unfortunately OTM :(

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Layna, awesome! I want to a get a Sanrio cat on my shoulder.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

try ibuprofen - it helps with the swelling and pain sometimes.

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i know someone with a hello kitty just below the bikini line on the front of the right hip. obviously i know this person pretty well!!!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

ooooh, get you!

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone with 'restless' tatooed across their lower back might as well have wanker stamped on their forehead.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)
