But not a slob like in the song, and not Bud Cort like in Dogma.

Girolamo Savonarola, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Some memories didn't need to be brought back.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Dogma kinda was a dud, wasn't it?

Girolamo Savonarola, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Wasn't Alanis Morrisette god in Dogma?

Prude (Prude), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

The answer came before the question! Girolamo IS god!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, I have cured thee of your testicular cancer thread.

Girolamo Savonarola, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

God is like Spongebob Squarepants.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

A vision.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

that means that yer in LOTSA trouble fer yer octo-ass comment, mr. raggett!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Put that thing away.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

does this t-shirt make me look fat?, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:10 (twenty-one years ago)

look at what i started ...

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought you meant "What if god was an ILXer and which one?"

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe we should have a vote over which ILXor gets to be our god. I mean, now we vote for leaders, instead of being saddled with hereditary kings and all that (well, in theory, at least, in places that aren't Florida) - maybe we should vote on our deities as well.

"MAKE ME YOUR GOD AND I SHALL SMITE THE WRONGDOERS AND THE RANDOM GOOGLERS AND WE SHALL FAP EVERY NIGHT SO LONG AS YOU POUR LIBATIONS OF SHANDY ON MY IDOL!!!"

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

he/she would come on ilx and tell us they were a deity.

some people would laugh at God. some people would refuse to believe in God. some people would berate God for the destruction of soddom and gomorrah.

God would go away, and find something less stressful to do. masturbation, perhaps, or drinking special-brew.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:24 (twenty-one years ago)

he/she would come on ilx and tell us they were a deity.

I read this as he/she would come on ilx and tell us they were dirty.

I need to get my mind out of the gutter.

smee (smee), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

tell us they were dirty.

Twould be more effective.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I read this as he/she would come on ilx and tell us they were dirty.

this would probably get a better reaction.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

See?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, but what would those fundamentalists do then? I mean, sure, there's always the Song of Solomon, which is masturbation material for fundamentalists, but still! What if god was *really* dirrrrrty?

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Not, like CHRISTina Aguilera or whatever, but like, a Dirty Dronerock God. I'd worship at that altar, oh yeah.

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Heck, its only a very short step for Jason Pierce anyway.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, no, there's quite a difference between "delusions of grandeur" and "actual deity". ;-)

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:43 (twenty-one years ago)

.. and he is ...?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I am, in fact, God on ILX. I have the classic God-profile. Messianism, persecution and eventual absence.

Momus (Momus), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Like I said.... there's a big difference between "Delusions of Grandeur" and "Being God" ...

Super-Kate (kate), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't believe in Momus.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Messianism, persecution and eventual absence.

Dude, your idea of being a god is no fun. How about changing into a swan/shower of gold and getting jiggy with teenage nymphets?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I am, in fact, God on ILX. I have the classic God-profile. Messianism, persecution and eventual absence.

and are you dirty??

by the way, the plagues of egypt, particularly the last one, were something of an over-reaction. you could have been more subtle.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

post to momus, btw, not liz.

i believe liz to be quite clean. astoundingly so, in fact.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Just shows what you know eh?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Girolamo are you still round Manor House way?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I am still in Harringay (Harringey? Haringay? Haringey? You mofos need to pick a spelling and stick to it...), but I'm currently Stateside for the month.

What's up?

Girolamo Savonarola, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i was musing on the spelling this morning myself, are there any other places that have three or more variants of their name used in regular exchange?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The Haringey/Harringay (and occasional other variant spellings) is a long standing thing that occupies my mind. I used to want to ring into Robert Elms about it, and then I wondered about Notes & Queries.

In boring official terms, of course, Haringey is the borough and Harringay is the locality.

This has been discussed on ILE before, here.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

eleven years pass...

...except for the pope, maybe in rome.

wizzz! (amateurist), Wednesday, 24 February 2016 05:39 (nine years ago)

So how do we go from "everyone follows their individual whims and instincts, hence there is no God" to "everyone follows the same set of whims and instincts (if society allows it), let's call those 'God' because the shoe fits, and start defending that God against the omnipresent cult of money?" I guess we don't.
