I'm in love with Jake Gyllenhaal. I don't care if he looks just like k.d. Laing. So, has anyone seen Donnie Darko? I thought it was kinda half-assed but enjoyable. I liked the Ice Storm bits more than sci-fi stuff. The EST/Tony Robbins schtick was heavy-handed and that has to be the worst Drew Barrymore performance in ages. And the Smurfs conversation was disconcertingly Tarantinoesque, I hate that shit.

Any thoughts?

five months pass...

Okay, I finally did rent it and I liked it a lot -- best use of Tears for Fears in a film evah (including Real Genius!).

And even though there was a lot time travel/sci fi mumbo jumbo thrown in there, it still seemed liked a more accurate depiction of schizophrenia than A Beautiful MInd.

I just rented it a couple days ago and have been pushing it on all my friends. You know Jake Gyllenhaal starred in Bubble Boy? How depressing. Still, Donnie Darko was killer. They even had Joy Division in there!
