more things to not click on, ever

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I think staying away from any food which has "turd" in the name is a good idea.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I have nothing to add to that.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

What about custurd and musturd?

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

(I am far too easily amused.)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

it's always cute when the yankees find out about turducken

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

blount, i've known about this for years, but this is the first time i've seen one being prepared.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I've heard turduckens don't even taste good, as many awful-looking foods actually do. Everything gets soggy inside.

Marcel Post (Marcel Post), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

it's always cute when the yankees read upton sinclair

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Everything gets soggy inside.

Now this is true, but what does it have to do with etc etc.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

it's always cute when southerners wave confederate flags.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Especially if they are debutantes!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

arguing over which fatty was first to hear about turducken: c/d?

ASTROG! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Imagine how the duck feels. He gets shoved up a turkey's ass, and a chicken is forced up his.

"We're going to do what today? Quack!"

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Wimps. The Brits own this:

THREE BIRD ROAST
Goose stuffed with a Chicken stuffed with a Pheasant. Topped up with stuffing, pork and spices, natch. Or if you are hardcore...

THE FIVE BIRD ROAST, BABY:
A boned farm turkey stuffed with chicken breasts, Guinea Fowl breasts,
pheasant breasts and boned quail which is in turn stuffed with Cranberry and Orange Relish. The meat is layered with Chestnut Forcemeat Stuffing and a delicious Lemon Thyme Stuffing made with fresh herbs

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

in case anyone else hasn't told you lately (and i very much doubt that): go fuck yourself jody

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't stuffing meat in YOUR fat ass enough?

ASTROG! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't feel so good.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

One of the best things in the world to know is that's there's a word for stuffing one animal inside another: engastration.

Marcel Post (Marcel Post), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Three Bird Roast is blimmin grate! Stripey meat hurrah!

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Knock it off, Blount/cindy.

MODERATOR (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, this is a serious thread about turducken, fools.

ASTROG! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

It's weird - in that first photo, there's an optical illusion that makes a portion of the second "layer" look like the head of a tiny kitten, trapped under the stuffing, crying out for help.

morris pavilion (samjeff), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i think that we've had a thread about turduckens before?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

and isn't our own mr blount, like, a turducken aficionado or something?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i searched the archives and there was no one thread specifically devoted to the turducken. if mr. blount is an aficionado perhaps he can put his attitude aside and give us his thoughts on the article i linked to?

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

although to be honest this thread was really just an excuse for me to post the pic.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Imagine how the duck feels. He gets shoved up a turkey's ass, and a chicken is forced up his.

NOW we know the REAL reason why daffy duck used to be so, uh, daffy.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

hoo-HOO-hoo-HOO-hoo-HOO indeed

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh that's what that is??

OMG, I remember watching a food show and the lady was making one. I couldn't believe it.

Who eats duck?!

Aja (aja), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Foghorn Leghorn, meanwhile, could afford to be lackadaisical.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

*thinks to say something but really, it's been said*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Turducken's pretty good. Most people seem to be disappointed the first time they try it, whether they expected it to be good or horrifying or whatever -- cause it's really not all that different from any other stuffed bird. It's presentation food, not flavor food. But it's certainly no worse than turkey with stuffing, either.

(It's definitely not worth the price for the pre-made frozen ones, but no one ever seems to actually buy those anyway.)

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, the picture is pretty graphic ... but then again, a picture of ANY fowl getting gutted before being fried up is pretty graphic.

i've never tasted of turducken, but only b/c i've never been offered.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I'd like it. I've really got this thing about duck. I really don't like the way it tastes

Aja (aja), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

duck is a little too greasy for my tastes, too. too much dark meat.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Duck's trickier than chicken or hen -- this is pretty much the worst way to cook it, especially if you don't skin the duck ahead of time. (Well, I guess maybe it might be worse to hide the duck inside a meatloaf or something, too, but it's going to have the same effect. Okay, a surprise duck in a coconut cream pie. That would be the worst way.)

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 15 April 2004 01:59 (twenty-one years ago)

a surprise duck in a coconut cream pie

or a surprise duck in a coconut cream pie, after someone put their ass in the coconut cream pie ... THAT would be the worst way.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 02:01 (twenty-one years ago)

We're starting to relive the Gear roommate thread already?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 April 2004 02:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, just leave the filthy ducks alone!!

Aja (aja), Thursday, 15 April 2004 02:02 (twenty-one years ago)

gooses are filthier ... they poop all over the place!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 15 April 2004 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

This could go to dark, dark places. Dark, dark, creamy places.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 15 April 2004 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

gooses are filthier ... they poop all over the place!

I know. I lived near a lake in Oakland once. Geese everywhere!!

I've always wondered why they don't put, like, a hard-boiled egg in the middle of these monstrosities, just to add another level.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 15 April 2004 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

eight months pass...
Preferably the egg of the bird they killed. and the whole thing should then be stuffed into an emu.
