Is Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels the worst film ever made?

It's been on for all of 10 minutes and I am already having 'I must sell my TV in case I ever get accidentally exposed to this again' thoughts. Excessive use of cockney rhyming slang, Nick Moran's extremely punchable face, the irritating entirety of Dexter Fletcher and Ocean Colour Scene seem to be major components of this film. Has it any redeeming features at all?

It rocks, you are a fool, QED.

Any film with the line "you're fat, you know you're fat, you just don't look it" HAS to be good! Give it time, grasshopper.

Agree re: Dexter Fletcher, though - at least he's not putting on a bad merkin accent a la Press Gang. Thank heavens for small mercies.

i couldn't pay any attention to it, i think because i've subliminally trained myself to ignore advertisements and it just looked like a long boring commercial.

I R agreeing with badger boy. I R switching off after 15 mins. I R thinking Vinny Jones and Dexter Fletcher - a winning combination indeed! I R tempted to store up a weeks worth of shitm putting it in bag and throwing it at Guy Ritchie.

I R "Gor blimey guvnor!", Sunday, 28 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Where's that thread about things you don't need to experience to know are bad??

Tom, Sunday, 28 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The first half hour is hideous but it gets much better. Enjoyable crap. Slackers is the worst film ever made.

LS&TSB is the worst film ever, I'm against censorship but if I had the money I'd buy every last copy + the master tapes and fucking BURN THEM. COR BLIMEY GUVNOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DG, Sunday, 28 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good god. Hipster trainspotting ripoff with tepid acting, no pacing, "jokes" that hit like lead bricks, and the most predictable plot evah. The how film feels like a gratuitous slap in the face.

Sterling Clover, Sunday, 28 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

but i loved snatch

anthonyeaston, Sunday, 28 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

its fucking awful, but nowhere near as abd as titanic.

Geoff, Sunday, 28 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it's an overly stylised film with a very good/funny story. you have to laugh at the naff nathan-barley-ness of the director, you have to find everything visually and in the dialogue a complete fantasy "world of east end fun park", but the story i will defend utterly. it's got more than a touch of p g wodehouse (not the dialogue you understand, just the structure).

Kill me now.

Hate and loathe it. But it apparently summed up 1998 for a yoooge amount of people according to I WUV 1998. Oh, the nostalgia! What were you doing when South Park started, eh? I know that I don't remember LS&2 COCKFARMERS being released therefore I haf great taste and haf ignored it. I also ignore the series by making very loud hacking coughing noises all over it.

OI!! You slaaag AArgrrhhrhrhrhrhrhraaa COFF HACK COFF get in the fridge.

Sarah, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I quite liked it. Good pulpy fun. Snatch seemed like a weak remake.

bnw, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

tv series was v v v poor. no doubt

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought it was tired shit... its all been done. I would not like to say that it was the worst film ever made though, i think that honour should go to 'the terror of tiny town' a midget musical western. That is not even good pulp fun, just painful

Menelaus Darcy, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like Snatch.

AP, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ethan is OTM, it reminded of one long Bud Lite commercial. At least I didn't pay to see it.

Nicole, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What were we thinking?

ogden, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

OTM? Don't think you can hide behind abbreviations. What's wrong with "right"?

Graham, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I R thinking OTM means on the money clot!

I R thinking there is somthing which are so bad they R being good, and there R some stuff which R plain shit!

I R knowing all!, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like the part where the girl wakes up and you're like "wow she must have been wasted maaaaan"

Tracer Hand, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Gentlemen looks awful

Hooooooly shit, I did not realize that Guy Richie directed that live action Aladdin abortion. Wow.

Dr. Teeth and the Women (Old Lunch), Thursday, 16 January 2020 17:52 (five years ago)

has a few absolute stinkers in his catalogue def but must admit there were moments of real charm in the man from uncle shambles

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Thursday, 16 January 2020 17:54 (five years ago)

Of his films, I've only seen Lock Stock and Snatch, which I enjoyed a lot when they came out but hadn't seen since I let go of my VCR. Rewatched both of them this year and they were just as fun as I remembered.
