ILE Kar Boot Sale

Sarah has just given me a great idea. There's a load of ILE-ers who I'm sure would enjoy the grime and sleaze of a car boot sale, and I'm also sure they've got a load of crap to sell. So all we need is a car, and a boot sale, and we can go along and have fun together!

This definition of 'great' may need work, actually.

This *would* be fantastic! I am looking out for retro gaming consoles because I bought some great looking games on cassette tape in a charity shop in Clarm (twat twat twat) and also I am stuck on Final Fantasy VIII. Car boot sales are great, and if anyone knows of good ones in the London area (I am willing to travel to extremities ie Surrey and Kent for brilliant ones) please let me know when and where! So far I am aware of one in White City but haf not visited it yet...

coinki-dinky! i bought an intellivision (with a bundle of games) for a quid at the flea market (nice one off Kilburn High Road toward Maida Vale). i of course buy old crap 7" singles -- usually Bucks Fizz and East 17. ooo, i also got a sinclair QL, but with no power pack.

Will swap scalextrix for QL power pack, noel.

I never sell stuff because it's too much trouble, it's easier to just give it all away when I don't want it anymore.

Howevah, I love to buy stuff off of people, I suppose it's the thrill of finding a bargain.

I have masses of CD's to off load...I'll make a list at some point!

james, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can't believe Tom is so eager to re-enter the world of 2nd-hand retail....

Andrew L, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes! Maybe I can put flyers in the MVE shops and meet all my old customer friends again!

Tom, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have loads of cds I don't want but I fear the general car-boot- saling public will not be queuing up to hear my castoffs. Did the ILM cd swapshop ever come to anything? Mind you, CDs I don't like tend to get left lying around on the floor, so I usually discover that everything I want to sell is too scratched anyway.

Starry, what retro consoles are you after? I have an NES and a Master System in my wardrobe which I bought at a boot sale and I've played them about once each and I'm short of space so I should probably get rid of them, if I can bring myself. However, my Spectrum is too precious to part with (oh, and it's knackered).

I am not really here, Windows 98 died horribly last week 10 hours before a deadline, so I'm only supposed to be online to look for more drivers that need installing before getting my nose back against the grindstone. Sigh...

rebecca, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

master system - retro? ha 8-bit roolz.

Alan at home, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

seriously tho, i'd love a NES. i may even consider a swap for my speccy microdrive and interface w/ 8 microdrives (yup, totalling a massive 480K, woo). wot was the zelda game on the NES, that was the original 2D one i think -- luvverly.

Alan at home, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Damn, I would really like a Spectrum. And an Oric and especially a Jupiter Ace.

RickyT, Tuesday, 30 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

OOh, I'm interested in the NES, seriously. Do you want to mail me off forum? I already have a Master System, YAY Sonic the Hedgehog and GOLDEN AXE! I like games where you HACK AND SLASH. My speciality was finishing the first level in 20 seconds.

As for the Spectrum, the hunt continues. I must phone my dad, I knew he had one in a sock drawer. My parents are almost as keen for me to learn "computers" as I am to learn Linux and program my own games IE be you lot a few years ago. I am sure this is a vvv stupid learning curve.

I have an Atari Jaguar (with Jaguar CD) gathering dust. Does anyone ant it?

Thought not.

Graham, Tuesday, 30 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You'd have to compete with Electronics Boutique, for some reason they seem to have re-stocked with the Jaguar.

DG, Tuesday, 30 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I bought an Atari Jaguar for a pound...I took it apart and used it's innards in a painting. So, I'll give you a quid for it Graham!
