lately we (ie me and Ricky T) are obsessed by the POWERPUFF GIRLS!

we think they are hella cute and envy them their baddie-bashing abilities, but not their bis theme tune.

what do you folks think?

katie, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

new answers - and my favourite is Buttercup as she is the grumpy one and has the best hair.

katie, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Buttercup is too indie. The powerpuff girls rule.

Tom, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Godlike aren't they? I esp. love that episode where Mojo creates the Powerpuff Boys. Lovely use of Japanese cartoon cliche's, oh yeah and the episode where Buttercup (?) is a bit of a softy, proves the others wrong who then shout "You're hardcore!".

Omar, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

nowt wrong with ver tune. bubbles is twinkly nice.

I liked the one where they want to become proper comic book heroes. Blossom becomes a sort of freaky Wonder Woman/Batman combo thing, Buttercup is a spawn piss-take and lovely bubbles is just a manga rabbit that hops. heeeeeeee, and if you will, heeeeeee

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Alan is on-money with Bubbles and off-money with Bis.

The last one I saw involved some magic chalks and looked very scary. I had to watch it with the sound down because Magnus was sleeping on Emma'n'Pete's other sofa. Why oh why is it on so bloody early?

Tom, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You know the weirdest/most disturbing thing about the Bis theme tune?

The line that goes "Buttercup, she is the toughest fighter" sounds like "Buttercup, she is the topless fighter" thanks to Manda Rin's garbled yowls.

Nicole, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I love Bubbles and Buttercup!! Blossom however yah boooo! Mojojojojo is the best villain ever! The only comic I haf ever bought haf been the Powerpuff Girls comic and now I want to buy one again. The episode where Bubbles is convinced she's Mojojojo is the BEST EVER. I am not Bubbles for Bubbles is not my name if it was my name ect ect ect till DIE OF JOY.

I also wuvved the episode with the evil broccoli. So much that I went down to Safeway and bought a bag of broccoli. I ate it with some guacamole and pringles. I am so gross!

Also, THE ROWDY RUFF BOYS! *dies from glee*

YOU SHOULD HAVE WOKEN MAGNUS UP.

Sarah, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

bubbles: she is the joy and the laughter (in an annoying squeaky voice)

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've been searching for Powerpuff Girls merchandise everywhere until yesterday when I walked into the Warner Brothers store in the Arndale Centre where they have two whole racks of the stuff. I nearly had a coronary. I now have a foot high Bubbles (She's blonde and ditzy, like me), a poster, and when my Powerbook comes back from repair it will be covered with PPG glittery book covering (actually to protect it from scratches, not just cos it looks good).

Graham, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Has anyone seen the one where the mime artist steals all the colour from Townsville and the Powerpuff Girls do this fantastic song Love Makes The World Go Round: Blossom on Gutair, Buttercup on Bass, Bublles as the GREATEST INVENTION IN ROCK HISTORY

Graham, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Very cool show indeed. The "Beat-Alls" episode was fantastic, as were the one with the giant robot Powerpuff Girl and the one where Mojo babysits for them. Nothing wrong with the theme song.

palpable, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I appear to have been cut off:

The GREATEST INVENTION IN ROCK HISTORY: The singing drummer.

Graham, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the fact that Buttercup is a bass player only further proves her ace- ness. i may evengo into a Warner Bros. store if there is PPG merchandise to be had!

katie, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No adult size T-Shirts, boo.

Graham, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm sure they do have adult sizes? And anyway Graham you are weeeny! Buttercup is a bass player?? Oh what joy. I need to get a DVD/video player so I CAN WATCH ALL THE EPISODES ALL DAY. You are my wife now Dave!! I mean, oh, um, wrong programme there.

Sarah, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sarah, do you really want me wearing Powerpuff Girls toddler-size dungarees?

Graham, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

we all know the answer to that one Graham :)

katie, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You crazy ILE nuts you.

Ronan, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tom, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But what was the name of Buttercup's Spawn 'tribute'?

DG, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

we need a link for Ronan and to find the answer to DG's pressing question - does anyone know of one? (i'd look for one but i'm v naughtily skiving off work as it is) GO POWERPUFF GIRLS!!

katie, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Great show, and it's the only good thing Bis ever did, so yah boo to those who hate.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Mange" i think

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Behold the wonder that is THE POWERPUFF GIRLS!

RickyT, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i are haffing the ear to ear grin...

katie, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Two things:
1) There's a Powerpuff Girls PC thing out, it's one of those activity packs with little games and cartoon making applications and stuff.
2) The Cartoon Network site - A POWERPUFF GIRLS MOVIE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? NEXT YEAR!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! That's too long to wait, I'm going to sulk. Humph.

DG, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And you might want to look here as well, it may explain a few things...

DG, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The fact the Powerpuff Girls are on so early is a tragedy - luckily I have cable which means I can watch them at the much more sensible time of 7:30pm every weekday. Also at about 1:30am they do a special version for deaf viwers, where they have a woman who translates everything into sign language. Watching her is entertainment in itself, as she has a job and a half doing all the fast paced dialogue. Also she has an enormous mouth which expands to incredible sizes when she portrays "crying" or "screaming" or "laughing".

In that Powerpuffs-want-to-be-other-superheroes episode, I loved the opening sequence where Bubbles literally translates her kawaii manga - "Being a rock, I am without movement." "I am filled with solutions!"

Chris Lyons, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Here I go...more controversy...I Ha...

No not really!

james, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

NEWSFLASH: New episodes everyday this week at 10am (Cartoon Network UK). Why did nobody tell me?

I love the way all the villiains look like an out of work Danny De Vito.

Graham, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

For the longest time I had a crush on a girl that was basically the real life Buttercup. However, she turned out to be a lesbian. I still like Buttercup though.

Honda, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well duh.

Graham, Monday, 29 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I be the naysayer, sorry, I just don't like it, far too, erm bubbly and bright. Gimme the simpsons anyday.

chris, Tuesday, 30 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I had never seen an episode until last month. But I got lots of Powerpuff Girls merchandise as going away presents last fall. Yay!

rosemary, Tuesday, 30 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Get your PPG cursor here! But be warned - pointing with Buttercup's hand is a bit tricky unless you have supreme mouse skillz.
