er, if anyone in London is interested, i have a band with a buncha nogoodniks called the Mean Streaks and we are playing on Fri Nov 9th at the Windmill, Blenheim Gardens (just off Brixton Hill). Also playing are Planquez (from Brighton) and Montana Pete, both of whom are real good too. Come along. It will be choice.

This band will rule, for anyone in London who follows New Zealand music there are people in it from all the best bands ever here.

Yeah you should go see this band - i heard a live recording of them and they're real good. Is David Mitchell in this band? What does he play in it?

hamish, Tuesday, 30 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hey cameron if you remember can you please tell matthew that his friend liz from new zealand is sending him a letter right now ('cause I've been really slack and haven't sent one for ages)
you should do that epic song about that antarctic island

elizabeth anne marjorie, Tuesday, 30 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

thanks everybody! duane, i don't think you would hate London. why don't you stop moping and come visit us and we can find out....yes, Dave Mitchell is in the band, contributing his inimitable toxic brew of mitchness (enough to kill any normal human), and Liz, i'll try to remember to pass on that message to Matthew. we probably will do the song about the ill-fated, godforsaken settlement on the subantarctic island (it's called "the Last Days of Hardwicke").....incidentally, what is the provenance of this live tape you guys seem to have heard? are we being spied on?

cameron bain, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is Roy Montogomery in your band then? Or is Maryann lying?

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Roy M did live in London for a while - I used to work with him - but he went back a few years ago now, I think.

Have you got the Dead C in this group then?

Andrew L, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

neither Roy M. or the Dead C are in this group, tho' Robbie Yeats can be an honourary member if he wants.

cameron bain, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

incidentally, what is the provenance of this live tape you guys seem to have heard? are we being spied on?

Yes. Matthew sent it to Liz. Does anyone know the dates to the rumoured Ghost Club NZ tour? i wanna follow them around the country because they're the best band in the world.

hamish, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hey, Liz, i told Matthew about your imminent missive...also, Hamish, i asked Dave whether the Ghost Club were doing a nz tour. he denied all knowledge. unless he was just being coy. which is possible...

cameron, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ok my sources must be wrong.

hamish, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

four months pass...
There was an art installation here last week with music from this band. it was a good song but you could hardly hear it.

for some reason the ODT doesn't let you access their articles directly. To see the review try going here, click on "other items" and the review headline should be at the top.
