Finding your name embedded in words

sometimes i search (using Ctrl-F in explorer) a thread to find the point in which i last posted. and so i search for "ken c" and sometimes it goes to some very unexpected places, like in the middle of someone saying "drunken carnage"

how embeddable is your (real and/or ilx) name? i guess "N." would be everywhere unless the search is case sensitive.

It happened that I was sickened after I gardened one day.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 May 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Phonetically, my name is in tons of words! Dedicate, certificate, try not to hate, etc. etc. (oh dear this is turning into an INXS rap.) But spelling? Nope. Stupid Greek K.

Super-Kate (kate), Sunday, 2 May 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and I'm often in jelly.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 2 May 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

More than often I'd say.

I'm a grammarian, myself.

Maria D., Sunday, 2 May 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

This doesn't really happen to me, although I had a class with a guy whose last name is T3pk3, which is a phonetic anagram of my last name, like someone had given the first syllable a good swift kick in the ass and shoved it into the middle. That was weird.

Tep (ktepi), Sunday, 2 May 2004 19:03 (twenty-one years ago)

kate you forget rollerskate!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 2 May 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Who says "certifiKATE?"

nabiscothingy, Sunday, 2 May 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

(Is that a Brit thing I've somehow never noticed?)

nabiscothing, Sunday, 2 May 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I work in internet networking. The amount of times people talk about doing traceroutes drives me mad. The "trace root hur hhur" joke wore thin about 4 years ago also *mutter*.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 2 May 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha ha, there was a reason that my former mailing lists was called the sKATE club.

I'm just hoping there isn't a Indo-Scots poster named Sanjay McDougal that ever shows up here.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 18 November 2004 16:40 (twenty years ago)

I find SeanCes spooky.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 18 November 2004 16:46 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm, maybe I'll be pre-emptive about this.

nickn is my nickname. I noticed this when searching to see if I had answered the Introduce Yourself thread.

nickn (nickn), Thursday, 18 November 2004 22:57 (twenty years ago)

My name is backwards on the keyboard!

(Tre, not Pleasant Plains.)

It's also why I prefer the British spelling of "theater".

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 18 November 2004 23:14 (twenty years ago)

My name is Martin. I don't have a nickname, so please just call me Martin.

martin m. (mushrush), Thursday, 18 November 2004 23:57 (twenty years ago)

you don't have a nickname? i don't believe you.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 19 November 2004 14:00 (twenty years ago)

I have a very faintly amusing one for my name, but don't know how to do bold here (or italics, or pictures, or weblinks...)

The Horse of Babylon (the pirate king), Friday, 19 November 2004 14:05 (twenty years ago)

(just use something for bold
use i rather than b for italics
put an i in front of url for pictures
and link here for links. it's all pretty standard html stuff)

koogs (koogs), Friday, 19 November 2004 14:28 (twenty years ago)

(actually, as seen above, just put http://www.yahoo.com and ile will magically make it a link)

koogs (koogs), Friday, 19 November 2004 14:29 (twenty years ago)

Cheers.

A bit contrived this one. I've never seen my name embedded in
words, but at a push it could turn up in something along the lines
of "He had two slices of bread filled with jam ie a jam sandwich".

The Horse of Babylon (the pirate king), Friday, 19 November 2004 14:33 (twenty years ago)

Though I'm not holding my breath on that one.

The Horse of Babylon (the pirate king), Friday, 19 November 2004 14:34 (twenty years ago)

When I went to IKEA with a roommate, she was short of money. I covered her share of the purchase, and she gave me a check. At first the check was payable to IKEA, but we found how easy it could be changed to be transferred to me: mIKEAppelstein.
