Claire Huxtable of The Cosby Show wins nod as best TV mom in new poll
NEW YORK (AP) — Rudy and Theo would be proud.
Claire Huxtable, matriarch of The Cosby Show clan, was named best TV mom in a new poll released just in time for Mother’s Day.
Played by Phylicia Rashad, Claire Huxtable was the witty, tough mother of five who also worked as a lawyer. Rashad played alongside Bill Cosby’s Cliff Huxtable for eight years, until the NBC sitcom ended in 1992.
The 55-year-old actress, who’s currently starring in the Broadway production of A Raisin in the Sun with Sean Combs, also was named “TV mom closest to your own mom in spirit.”
Opinion Research Corporation conducted the poll from April 8-11. Results were based on 720 adults who have a living mother or mother-in-law. The margin of error was plus or minus four points.
Mrs. Cunningham of Happy Days, played by Marion Ross, was second, followed by Marge Simpson of The Simpsons, voiced by Julie Kavner.

Dan, how many times did you vote?

Do you buy that she's only 55 though? I mean, the Cos has got to be in his mid-70s, and, I mean, she looks really good and everything, but 55 seems about 5 years younger than I would have guessed. I don't know, not that it actually matters.

No way...My vote goes to Peggy Bundy (Katey Sagal) from Married w/ children for sure!!

And he'd better be grateful, says Peggy Noonan: When Diddy kissed McDonald at curtain call, she "got this look on her face that said, 'Don't gallantly bend to kiss my little cheek when I just carried your sorry ass for three hours.' "

Best theatre review EVER, IMHO. Jesus, how the truth (and my arching sides) hurt.

I was hoping this would be a Calum thread about sex speak.

Tough luck, it's a banker's holiday. Is Calum a banker, though?
