You wouldn't think a metal band, a late April fool's joke, and a Shakespearian - named band in a church would mix. Oh, how wrong you would be if you said they wouldn't. I must say that the debut show at "the church" (W00dlawn church, home to Caleb, bassist of B3ware: The G3ntlemen, and his brother Josh) is one of the best shows I've been to in awhile.
Things were done in clockwork time, and the atmosphere was not the least bit oppressive, like preconceived notions of a church atmosphere may lend you to believe.
C4pulet was first on the roster. I think everyone in the venue sung along; with "Pocket the Revenue" being a crowd favorite.
The Sh4pe's performance was amazing. It was my second time seeing them, but the first that I could actually see them. They are a very talented, animated band with a large fan base. The band recently had an April fool's joke that the show at "the church" would be their last show. I found out a little earlier that it was a joke.
B3ware: The G3ntlemen played a majestic set (as always.) Even though BJ dropped a drumstick, he was able to keep on playing. That's metal. Speaking of metal, Caleb broke his mic stand to retain his metalness. Is it me or does he break something every show??? Haha just kidding.
Alright, about the moshing/dancing issue. The pit WAS NOT broken up because the venue was a Christian building. It was because:
1) It was not constructed for 150 kids jumping around. The floor cannot structurally take the stress because it isn't properly reinforced.
2) The church's insurance cannot afford an injury. There aren't usually many injuries in church anyway, which is why they would not have the proper insurance for such a thing.
3) The PA was right next to where the pit broke out, and we wouldn't want the speakers to fall now would we?
Please don't take any of this to offense, and any complaints will have to be turned in to R3née's face (*editor's note: No they wont!). This show was a great opener for the new venue, and it looks good for having more shows in the future.

Holy freaking flying cow.
I knew Caleb and Joshua when they were anarchist skate punks in Tampa, and I dated their older brother.
I think I need to lie down.

three years pass...
I'm not that shocked:
A Scottsdale man allegedly shot himself accidentally in the buttocks early Thursday morning. His wounds are not life threatening.
Sgt. Mark Clark, spokesman for the Scottsdale Police Department, said police are still investigating the incident.
Clark gave this account of the incident:
Daniel Leatherman, 26-year-old Scottsdale resident, was sleeping at an apartment on the 6700 block of E. Cheery Lynn Road when he heard a disturbance outside.
Leatherman went to the front door and saw Cody Nunn, 25 , outside fighting with a cab driver.
Nunn had assaulted Leatherman in the past, so Leatherman armed himself with a handgun. Leatherman told police that while hiding it behind his back, he dropped the gun, shooting himself in the buttocks.
At about 2:25 a.m. the Scottsdale Police Department was called to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn where Leatherman's friends, including Nunn, had taken him.
At the hospital, police found to be Nunn intoxicated and disruptive, and arrested him on suspicion of disorderly conduct.
