And for you people in the UK - note that doing this means you don't have to pay council tax. Your home becomes a "place of worship". A guy at work is seriously considering doing this...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Although I've been an ordained ULC rev. for quite awhile, I'm still trying to save up the cash to become a Master of Metaphysics - Spirit-Quest or, my favorite, a Doctor of Motivation!

Pholm, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

If I ever see someone trying to motivate people at a company pep-rally type thing, I'm going to demand to see their credentials, and if they are not a DOCTOR OF MOTIVATION, I'll raise some heck.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anyone actually read the small print to all this?

39 Steps + 40 Winks (39 Steps + 40 Winks), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

this became a mini-craze at college, with a bunch of people i knew getting ordained. i had a "clergy" sticker on my car for a while, but i never tried to test what benefits i could get from it.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

rob, more details on the council tax thing. sounds like a good deal to me...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm available for weddings, by the way, should the need arise.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I've actually married a couple now, as of April 20th. It was fun.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

oh well, I might as well become a minister, I don't think it'd change my life drastically.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't know the full scoop on the tax thing - my co-worker got an email about it. But whatever your home address is becomes exempt somehow.
