Whatever - a teenage musical

Did anyone see this last night? It was on about 11:00pm.

I initially had horrors it ws all going to be a bit 'community project', especially when the continuity announcer mentioned Chuwumbawumba, but it was really good.

For those who didn't: it was a story of teenage life written and acted by kids plucked off the streets of Brighton. The musical element consisted of them rapping, beat boxing and singing. A couple of them should really get record deals off the back of it. It was good enough to make me shudder with horrible recognition.

I saw an ad:voiceover for it. I admit I did run to the hills...

I thought it was kind of grim. I felt a bit depressed after watching it, definitely very true to life yeah.

The MCing was very good though and surprisingly not lame, yeah like you say when I first saw it I was afraid it'd end up yeah Community Project style "my name is underprivileged child and im here to say".

Did they write all the stuff themselves and things? It sounded kind of grimey!

That's what I thought Ronan (re: grime), especially that plump-ish one in the blue hooded top. Good flow, that boy!

i think mr chumbawumba helped with the music. the quality was very high all round though, i loved the main girl's singing voice. i liked that they had a couple of mcs being all street, and another being all socially conscious. the whole thing was excruciating to watch, in a low-key way, it wasn't all LOOK AT THESE PROBLEMS WILL YOU!, which was refeshing.

x-post - i thought the other two were better, that guy was a bit undie for me :-)

That is very possibly why I liked him.

One of the worst things I've ever seen on television -- embarrassingly stupid and utterly futile. Physically painful to watch, it continues C4's downward trajectory.

I kinda hated the songs, I listened to Cheap Trick on my headphones instead.
