The very charming Accentmonkey (of ILB fame, though I think she has posted on ILE too) is in town briefly on her way to gay Paree. So we are having a short-notice FAP tonite at The Champion on Wells St in her honour, from 7ish. Come along!

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 6 May 2004 07:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Lawks. But I must go to the library, appropriately enough. If I feel hardcore I'll come back into town after though.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 6 May 2004 07:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I would reccomend anyone considering this to go to it: accentmonkey is so fucking cool.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 6 May 2004 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

But I do not know her, hence I shan't.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

accentmonkey is a stern task master. I'm looking forward to meeting her if I can get out of painting the bathroom. "but you went out last night too."

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I have an hour or so to kill before meeting Stevem I think. Anyone likely to be there early doors (ie between 5.30 and 7.00)?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think a stern taskmaster is synonymous with being fucking cool.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:27 (twenty-one years ago)

she spanks good

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i read that as 'i have an hour to meet before killing stevem'

(alright i didn't really but it's funny eh)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I can go, but I've looked it up in my A-Z guide book. Is this the person who called me a 'retarded middle-aged man'? I don't think so, but it must have been a stern taskmaster.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

She spanks good.

I'll be there.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt, assuming my girlfriend gives me a pass, I shall get there for around 6.30pm. We can discuss the literary merits of David Pleat.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm afraid I'm in no fit state for going out. Sorry.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 6 May 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Bah, broke and going out for a birthday tomorrow so I shouldn't really. Although it's very handy for a quick post work pint. And it's a cheap pub. Er. Oh, 7ish? Sorry :)

Sarah who has still forgotten her password, Thursday, 6 May 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Convenient as the Champion is and social whore that I am, I am feeling and looking like a rotten turnip today and should have a night in, with some sloe gin, a hot bath and a 19th century novel. Besides, I don't know who accentmonkey is.

alix (alix), Thursday, 6 May 2004 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

(xpost to martin)

that's not like you martin. is everything ok?

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

mmmm 19th century hot gin

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

That hot gin will take away all my pain.

alix (alix), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Accentmonkey runs the Oxfam Bookshop in Dublin (and has become ILB den mother for some strange reason), and is smart and funny and stuff. Though she will still respect your book+booze+bath decision, I imagine.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

She may even join you

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

To whom?

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

That hot gin will take away all my pain

gin + hot bath = diy abortion, Lixi what are you telling us???!!!

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Obviously, not to try it.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Shit, yes, I see how that could be misinterpreted. Just to clarify, it it highly unlikely, nay impossible, that I am with child.

alix (alix), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm, perhaps a handy locale for a pre-Franz Ferdinand/Zongamin drink-up...anyone else going to FF?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

"Shit, yes, I see how that could be misinterpreted. Just to clarify, it it highly unlikely, nay impossible, that I am with child. "

I thought that too and twins popped out.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

or perhaps just renacting an episode in Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. It's taking loving books a little far, but respect to the commitment, I suppose

Canada Briggs (Canada Briggs), Thursday, 6 May 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Franz Ferdinand playing a gig? who'd have thought it - if i'd known Zongamin were playing i would've come tho

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

FF in town on the same night as FF? How... convenient.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

this thread makes me want to take a nap. then again, everything today makes me want to take a nap.

so i'll probably be taking a nap rather than coming to this.

(unless this wells street is near fleet street and on my way out for the evening, of course)

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Dammit, so no-one has decided to make this a post-work one then? Chiz.

Sarah fancying a GIN, Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Sarah - I'm going to be there from 6.00-7.30. I think other people should be there as well.

Colette - you've been to the Champion, its where we had the Pinkpanther/James FAP.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I won't be going. So no surprise there then.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Nor me. I've never had any dealings with accentmonkey on ILx - I've never even posted on ILB, although perhaps I should - so without any common ground it would be a mutually frustrating meeting, particularly as, if the descriptions given above are accurate, she is likely to try it.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I was not planning to be in town by that time - but OK, for the monkey, I'll have to make the effort.

How did this work out? I mean... who found out that A-M was around?

Perhaps I will find out later, or perhaps it skills not to ask.

A key question: Newcastle in Marseille - big game - is there any chance of catching that too?

the bellefox, Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

why do people bother saying they're not going to come because they don't want to. it seems absurd.

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Dammit, so no-one has decided to make this a post-work one then? Chiz.

D00d, I'll go for a post-work one, but will have to bugger off early to make it to the library before 8. The Champion is nice so I will require people to poke me with sticks to ensure I do actually go.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a thread on ILB, PF.

Stevem, I say it to avoid accusations of not turning up. I didn't make it sound very likely, but still. Me and Jerry have got a thing going on, where we avoid each other.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I think accent monkey was the instigater. She's over from Dublin for a couple of days.

The football makes it dificult. Perhaps we can talk to her at half time?

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

It passes the time while I'm munching my banana off a silver platter at 3:45 pm precisely.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

But will the footy be on at the boozer?

It's key stuff, this. Newcastle's biggest game in 35 yonks.

the bellefox, Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

the Liverpool match on the last day of the season will be bigger, Colossian in fact, if that were a word. i cannae wait.

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

not knowing an atom of accentmonkey, i nevertheless rather fear that she is not coming over from dublin en route to paris merely to watch a game of footy innit.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

She hasn't mentioned it but I have a sneaky feeling she is a big Marseille fan.

Can someone post a link for this pub, please? My girlfriend has agreed to let me come if I paint the bathroom door frame tomorrow.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub1035.htm

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 6 May 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

heh, the beauty of that trade-off is your request takes place before hers

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ach nae, I think I'd best be good and go home the neet. OOH, although, I meant to ask foax if they were busy on Sunday for the events detailed here, like. Scrabble in the park if nice, pub if not. I can't be bothered starting a thread whilst I can't even remember my sodding password, obviously.

Sarah's back hurts, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Marcello: how big a deal is the possibility of someone trying it? What would you miss to achieve it? This is actually more a general question than tied to this situation: Accentmonkey will probably be happy enough with two or three people.

(also what exactly are the boundaries of trying it?)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz, thanks.

Will be there about 7pm. I've got a blue shirt on and a tie with a stain near the knot. Bit of apple fell out my mouth.

Please make yourselves known.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

DON'T TRY THE BOUNDARIES OF TRYING IT!

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Does apple stain? Hm.

Sorry I won't be there to represent the ILB not-so-massive. Have fun.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

"Does apple stain? Hm."

Do not doubt it, young poet. Saliva to blame.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

the Monkey has changed her tune.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

and she's drunk half a bottle of wine already.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, Marcello: I'm severely depressed at the moment and haven't been able to get to work in three days. And had I been better I'd have been going with Andrew L to see the Art Ensemble Of Chicago play tonight anyway!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

What's the monkey's tune?

Is it Peter Gabriel's 'Shock The Monkey'?

the bellefox, Thursday, 6 May 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

c-c-c-c-c-c-c-come on

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 6 May 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)
