anyone know how to make a firewire device interface with a pc with only usb ports?

What mark said. You will need to add a card. How old/new is your PC, and what OS are you using?

If it's a reasonably new machine and you're using either Win2000 or WinXP, it should be a fairly painless upgrade. Just stick the new FireWire card in the PCI slot and power on the machine and you'll probably be good to go. If it's older you'll have to install drivers but you should still be able to add it without too much pain.
