Spam, both varieties

I used to have an excite e-mail account in which I was bombarded with solicitations to run a dating service, find Jesus or buy traffic light changers. What is the most entertaining spam people have found lurking in their inboxes?

Also, does anyone have any adventures to relate about Spam the food substance? i was watching Sally Jesse Raphael recently and she came up with a new and exciting use for it. If you dont have any baking paper or butter and dont want the cake to stick to the tin, just wipe over the caketin with a piece of spam and hey presto it will be fresh AND moist. What handy hints can people add to this?

How about: do not eat Sally Jesse Raphael's cakes for they will taste of Spam?

I get turkish spam, Ihave no idea what they are advertising, its in turkish, aside from that money making offers porn, penis enlargement, stock tips, email lists for more spam, the list goes on, it all ends up in the same place though, although sometimes I set up a filter to redirect to a particular offender, lastminute.com got a couple of months worth once.

I'd like to say that I think SPAM is defintely an underrated meat, and if I were not going STRATE to the booZoR after work, spam fritters would definetly be on the tea time menu.

Sarah, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm bloody glad we're going down the pub then. I've never had yer actual spam fritters, but the thought of luncheon meat fried in batter is making me nausesous as I type.

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ricky, Spam and luncheon meat are very different, for example, luncheon meat is a much better fishing bait.

chris, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Really? I thought luncheon meat was just generic spam rebranded to make it sound posher.

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

no, carp much prefer luncheon meat, spam is a bit too spicey for them.

chris, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Blimey.

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

chris, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Spam and mayonnaise?!! Blurgh! Spam sammiches = my tasty lunchtime treat next week? PERHAPS my lady, perhaps...

Sarah, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

googleing spam and luncheon meat threw up some horrid matches, all I saw were words like: metal fragmnents, unknown allergens, egg and spam curry

[shudder]

chris, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Chris, yes I'm villaging it up. Did you not get my email?

Nick, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nick, not yet and I'm just leaving I'll see you later. Apologies everyone for the privatisation of this thread. Normal service may now resume.

chris, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Spam fried with pineapple chunks is a TASTY TREAT for the entire family. Also, scrambled eggs with chunks of Spam added in are yümmy.

Uncooked Spam = SATAN'S MANNA. Fry before you try.

This R thread about SPam. People R saying I R bringing tone down. Hmmmm

I R thinking hmm..., Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good point.

At Sainsbury's the customers call the luncheon meat Spam. I think they are wrong, for ours is just some shit in a big can, with no brand name. I can slice 1.5kg of spam in 3 minutes. There's one lady who talks like Little Mo from Eastenders and she always says 'have you got any spaaaaaaam?' and proceeds to tell us it's the best spaaaaaaaaam she's tasted, nay, the best meat, she's eaten. Possibly insane, she really really annoys me. I ate some polony once. Ugh. Never again, never again. If you're going to eat meat, at least eat good meat. The only good processed food is canned hotdogs and also frankfurters..

Spam and Luncheon meat were always different beasties when my parents had their general store, which is why up-thread I immediately declared them different.

And Nick, you'll see on the actual question that the thread refers both to unwanted e-mail and pork meat products.

chris, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is anyone here a fan of fried luncheon meat? I was forced to eat it once, it was not very nice. Yesterday I got an e-mail asking me to donte money to some guy and then I would receive 3 million dollars US in return

What is the problem with bringing the tone of this forum down? How is spam plugging the depths?

Menelaus Darcy, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
