is....an updated version of All Together Now by the Farm.

It features these lyrics:

Same old story again
Rio’s stoned and Campbell’s gay
Nothing lost and nothing gained
Shit! David James

The main opposition features members of Supergrass, Delays and The Libertines.

The world holds its breath to see what The Bluetones' next move will be...

Whatever happened to the rumour about the nephew of one of the blokes in Dexy's transforming Come on Eileen into Come on England? I feel sure I read recently that this was to become England's 'anthem'

Japanese Giraffe (Japanese Giraffe), Friday, 7 May 2004 11:25 (twenty-one years ago)

that would be as good an idea as is possible, apart from not releasing a record at all

Poor old Michael Owen
Sounded bad upon the radio
He missed a million penalties in mono
Our mothers cried and sang along and who'd blame them
Now you're grown, so grown, now I must say more than ever
Go toora loora toora loo rye aye
And we can sing just like our fathers

Come on England, well I swear (what he means)
At this moment, you mean everything
Rebecca Loos in that dress my thoughts I confess
Verge on dirty
Ah come on England

These people round here wear beaten down eyes
Sunk in smoke dried faces
They're so resigned to what their fate is
But not us, no not us
We are far too young and clever
England I'll sing this tune forever

Come on England well I swear (what he means)
Ah come on, let's fuck up everything
That pretty red corner flag England (tell him yes)
Ah come on England

I actually like Bell and Spurling ('Goldenballs', 'Sven Sven Sven').
Whatever they release will be good.

one month passes...
Jaysus.

Just heard the Come on England one. Fucking hell. It's quite easily the worst football soing ever. Talksport involved you say? That'll be why it stinks like it's been encased in baby nappies and left to go mouldy in the heat. FFS.

The one XfM are pushing (Born in England or something) is awful, and not helped by the breathless puffing it's getting from all their DJs.

The farm's re-release looks positively restrained. Bring back the players singing - overdue a revival methinks. 'This Time' is pure gold against this lot. But I think its pure gold anyway.

Speaking of which - does anyone have 'This Time in yer modern digital music format?

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 18 June 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Back home, they'll be thinking about us
When we are far away

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 18 June 2004 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)
