Born again virgin = no sex for one year (use your own definition for sex). So, who is, or has been a born again virgin?

toraneko, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i suppose it only counts if this was intentional.

jess, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Shuddup Jess, you've ruined it for all of us now.

Ronan, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nah, accidental virginity counts too! If you ask someone who's never had sex but is hanging for it if they are a virgin they say yes so it must work both ways.

toraneko, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My ex-girlfriend refused me oral pleasure for 13 months - does that count? Then when she finally relented, I was so gobsmacked I couldn't... you know.

Markx, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

mark!

chris, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, I haven't had sex for... shit - I can't recall any details of my past lives so I can't really estimate how long.

Kodanshi, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i always thought it was 7yrs then yr hymen grows back....well apart from the farm animals, yeah, shrug, harumph.

Geoff, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That sounds horrible. Just imagine having to go through that pain again!

toraneko, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Its been at least since Nixon was in office...sigh

bnw, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I do not like this one year rule. Surely intention must play a part?

rosemary, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, it doesn't with the definition of a virgin the first time round.

Nick, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

God no! If intention played a part, every spotty seventeen-year-old nervous wreck would be able to happily claim a life of constant shagging. The Smiths would never have happened, for heaven's sake!

Markx, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey Mark, I'm beginning to like the sound of this.

Tim, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Does it have to be a period of time that one is celibate? can't you just make a decision to become a BAV, like you have to make a decision to become a X-ian?

Because I have now officially renounced sex as an icky and disgusting waste of time, renounced boys as thoroughly despicable and evil and ultimately soul-destroying, and I am never having sex again or even dating again as long as I live. No, not even if the amazingly beautiful Crushboy Mike asked me. I don't ever want to have sex with him, I just want to worship him from afar, and never actually ruin the crush by destroying my wonderful illusions about him. I just want him to stay perfect forever, like he is right now. Much better that way.

kate, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I do think being a born again virgin is a choice whereas just not getting any is a run of bad luck.

Samantha, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"not getting any is a run of bad luck." Tell me about it, sheesh.

DG, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hi all of you interested parties :) I fit the bill! For me it has been 8years at my choice although I have had a couple of dates. What does that make me? A Born again virgin X 8? Yahooo! :) Gale

Gale Deslongchamps, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

God, a year seems really short.

Tom, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hi Tom, :) So does 8 years. (:) Gale

Gale Deslongchamps, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've changed my mind. I think you can become a born again virgin anytime you want and that intention does play a part. This is based on the fact that every bonk can seem like your first bonk ever if you want it too.

toraneko, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"I made it thru the wilderness. Somehow I made it thru ..." I don't care if it's obvious, it's sort of CANONICAL.

maryann, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Naah. Once you've been corrupted, your soul is forever tarnished. Maybe you'll be reborn in heaven, but leading a life of sinfulness makes even that doubtful.

dave q, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The year rule actually came out of a joke initially with some of my chums, then when one of my friends actually broke the year barrier he actually announced that he had become a virgin again.

That's why I declared it as one of Brown's rules. And no, I'm not there yet but I'm worried.

chris, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Purposefully avoiding sex rather than not getting any due to bad luck or circumstances was what I meant in regards to intention. Plus, the thought behind born again virgins, or at least the ones that end upon TV talking about it, seems to have the element of "saving it" for that someone special, whereas your circumstantial celibate might not be so picky.

rosemary, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

one month passes...
"It's better to burn out than to fade away" ...... Having said that, I wish to state that I am no crusader and have not come here to rid the world of its evils. It hardly matters to me or to any of u guys what I do....even though the matter in fact is affecting the way of functioning of our lives.

Rhyme, Wednesday, 26 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

one month passes...
To people that lost their virginity unwillingly, being a born again virgin is the only way to try to respect yourself. All of those that think its a copout or faux can shove it for all i am concerned.

Meg, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

why does virginity have anything to do with respect?

Sterling Clover, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Because sex is a precious gift, Sterl.

Benjamin, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it can be expensive.

richard john gillanders, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

cos hello your either a virgin or a whore. ;)

di, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"To people that lost their virginity unwillingly, being a born again virgin is the only way to try to respect yourself. All of those that think its a copout or faux can shove it for all i am concerned."

But.. but.. won't 'shoving it' destroy the little fake hymen I have fashioned for myself out of glad wrap?

Liar, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, according to the womun who hosts "The Sunday Night Sex Show" on the Oxygen Network, one can never lose their virginity. Listen to reason, folks. (Reason being: This... womun says so.)

Mandee, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am once again thankful that I don't get the Oxygen Network.

Nicole, Thursday, 14 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's been 2 and a half years for me and almost 3 years before that. Not by choice.

Any contenders for pure feebleness?

Blarg, Sunday, 17 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

two years pass...
I can count da amount of times i had sex, 4 times! Only with 2 guys but with da last one at was abuse, i miss sex as its been 9 months now but i'm renewing meself & maintaining dignity & respect. I haven't had a date yet either but i got someone i like who knows.
Its about choice, if you don't want sex theres nothing wrong with that & most men are selfish!
