i like 'nazi punks, fuck off' by dead kennedys, but i'm not just talking about song titles and such. the reason for this thread is the piece of graffiti on a bridge at leicester train station that announces (with typically bad punctuation):
'b.n.p wake up leicester'.

piscesboy, Friday, 7 May 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

When Robert Relf was jailed, the "Free Relf" grafitti around town all got changed to "Free Beef".

People still like to revise certain tags to read 'bangladeshi national party'.

five years pass...

Hmm, this thread worked!

OK, how about:

The British National Party could face legal action over its membership policies, the Equality and Human Rights Commission has said.

The commission said it had written to the party over possible breaches of the law in the BNP's constitution, membership rules and recruitment.

It asked the BNP to pledge to comply with the Race Relations Act by 20 July or face a potential legal injunction.

On June 4, the BNP won two MEPs in the European Parliament elections.

In a statement, the commission said the BNP's constitution and membership criteria appeared to discriminate on the grounds of race and colour, in breach of the Race Relations Act.

The party's rules appeared to restrict membership to those within what the BNP regarded as particular "ethnic groups", the commission added.

The party does however have a half-Turkish Cypriot, half-English councillor in Lawrence Rustem.[98][99] In 2006, Sharif Abdel Gawad, a grandson of an Armenian refugee (also of partial Greek ancestry), was chosen as a council candidate in Bradford. Sharon Ebanks, the BNP's first councillor in Birmingham, has denied claims made by her stepmother, Glenys, that Sharon is mixed race; her black father, Radwell Ebanks, having been born in Jamaica.[100] BNP member Simone Clarke has a mixed-race daughter by a Cuban-Chinese dancer. [101]

they've also got a jewish councillor in essex. sharon ebanks' story is very weird:

Sharif Abdel Gawad, a grandson of an Armenian refugee (also of partial Greek ancestry), was chosen as a council candidate in Bradford

'The selection was reported to have caused some dissent within parts of the BNP, however, it was defended by the BNP leadership who said "ordinary members can rest assured that Sharif Gawad is not a racial alien. Sharif, despite his name, is white and British and the British National Party is staying true to its core principles". "Mr Gawad fulfilled the BNP criteria of being "a member of the white European race of people", they affirmed.[5]'

Nice

I feel sorry for you Brits, reading about all this shit. The US finally makes some small strides away from the right-wing crazies over here and it only seems to be gaining steam over there.

Things you learn in the Metro: BNP gaining popularity with under-35s, the age group usually less likely to hold racist views...

Maybe the extreme right is more thriving here than in the US, but I think (hope) the general political consensus is still further to the left.

Never overestimate the left. If the 60's taught us anything, it's that. Also the 70's. And the 80's. And... if you need me, you'll find me in a bathtub full of blood.

Friend of mine who came over as a refugee and I were speaking to a teenager like this: no qualifications, a five-month bun in the oven plus one parent from Lebanon and this girl was talking about the immigrants who take "our jobs" etc. Most people who advance this cuntwaffle tend to lack the finer points of basic education but they're amazing at filling out DWP forms, and the fuckers are EVERYWHERE. Assessments show that 30 per cent of eligible households on benefits are underclaiming by an average £30 a week, or over £1,500 a year - due to lack of awareness of their entitlement or being daunted by the complexity of the system, as identified by the National Audit Office.

This average represents an increase in income of a quarter for a single person living on the poverty threshold, and 10 per cent for a couple with two young children.

In over 15 per cent of households the level of underclaim is more than £50 a week, or over £2,600 a year - enough in most cases to lift people out of poverty altogether.

joe, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 13:51 (sixteen years ago)

xps

I didn't realise his fame spread so far. He used to go around our estate on his bike shouting at people. Him and his merry band of nutjobs delivered leaflets up our street telling us our house had been set aside for white homeless people and we hade 24 hours to move out.

He got caught after painting racist abuse on all the houses down his own street belonging to non-white families with white paint and when the police went round his house the paintpots were still in the hallway.

He really was some piece of work. I wonder if he's still alive?

ned trifle is not working for you (Notinmyname), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 13:53 (sixteen years ago)

No, that was not a welfare queen post! People who are entitled to benefits should always apply for them to the fullest extent (I'd rather my taxes went on that than oh say missiles or whatnot) and THIS IS THE CRUCIAL BIT maybe they shouldn't then turn around and say racist shit about foreigners or immigrants, especially if their parents happen to be any of those things, especially when F&I are paying so many of the taxes they're bleating about. Yes, we pointed this out to the girl.

okay, can't resist with this:

Dizzee Rascal. I know this is gonna sound horrible, because he’s the one who’s the most, like… because, my problem is that when immigrants come over to this country, they try and bring in their own churches and languages. And I think he expresses himself more as like an African or whatever he is, whereas Tinchy Stryder is more American. That’s the difference.
