this reminds me of a REALLY horrible old joke:

a shtetl in poland, the late 19th century. the jewish community has gathered in the synagogue to discuss some very disturbing news--a young christian girl has been murdered, which will surely lead to a pogrom and horrible reprisals against the oft-scapegoated jews. as the community's leaders tensely discuss the situation, a young man comes bursting into the shul. "Friends!" he cries, "I have wonderful news! The murdered girl was jewish!"

no. Fourteen-year-olds cannot consent. That's illegal for a reason. Fourteen is still a child and an adult is supposed to be an adult and know better.

I don't know if there's a statue of limitations on this in Ohio but fuckers like that should have their asses thrown in jail.

Goldschmidt said he has lived with "enormous guilt and shame" in the 30 years since the nine-month affair, which started in 1975 when he was 35. He was married at the time.

Amazing how long shame takes to coagulate. Why the sudden need to confess now, when it happened so long ago? If there IS a Higher Being, He won't high-five him for being so "honest".

Fourteen year olds can consent legally -- or could, in the 70s, in some places (I don't know if the reforms have changed that since). It's only in the last few years that age of consent laws have been revamped (not all counties even had them).

the age of consent (with parental permission) is 16 in TN. apparently younger than that you need a "special license".

Any parent who would even consider letting their minor child marry a 35-yr-old should have their asses thrown in jail as well.

I am not any more of an adult at 21 than I was when i finished going through puberty, just because you don't want your offspring having sex at a certain age doesn't mean you should force your feeble-minded views on others through silly laws that create arbitrary ages for "adulthood."
