Quadrophenia. Stand and Deliver. "Parklife." Chicken Run.

Does the good outweigh the bad? Discuss.

Please help. Phil Daniels is the guy who was in Quadrophenia? What does he have to do with Parklife, exactly?

You were the one who said "C.V." stood for Cabaret Voltaire, and my friend, I couldn't have asked for a better, more humorous or pleasantly unexpected answer to my Brit slang trivia question. Cheers to you!

Phil Daniels does the verses.

Who's that gutlord marching? You should cut down on your pork life, mate! Get some exercise!

That's him.

Oh, and dud, because I don't know anything else he's done.

B.b.but . .. that's the best part of the song!

(Or am I showing my spectacularly bad taste again?)

I think the Parklife voiceover works, but giving him classic status on the basis of three verses written by someone else?* Nah.

* I haven't seen Quadrophenia, and Chicken Run was crap

I saw Phil Daniel's once coming out of the Victoria Wine at the top of Byres Rd. I said "hello, phil" and he nodded at my friend and I.

Dud, incidentally.

bimble, CV is not a brit slang... unless you meant "cummy vagina" or "cunty vollocks".

phil daniels, when he is looking like the dude from the graduate as he does in the photo, is classic

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 8 May 2004 07:34 (twenty-one years ago)

It's slang in the sense that I've never heard anyone say "C.V." here when they mean "resume".

bimble (bimble), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the voiceover on Parklife.

bimble (bimble), Saturday, 8 May 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Reasonably amusing in 'time gentlemen, please'
But I suppose classic for Quadrophenia; I'm not an afficionado of that film or anything but it/he did provide me with a bit of self-knowledge in my day; I took Jimmy's behaviour to be stupid and boorish rather than iconic and inspiring. So I stopped behaving like that. Eventually.

I love Phil Daniels. He's superb as Colin in Meantime.

Phil is a man of many talents.

MARK in Meantime.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 20:01 (twenty years ago)

He had a band? How has this escaped my knowledge?

four years pass...

Phil is a man of many talents.

This is true - I once saw him doing a knife-throwing act. As in strapping a hot woman to a board and throwing knives at her. But I just saw a horrible film from last year called "Freebird" and have concluded that he is mostly dud, although that may just be the fault of the British film industry.
