MY wife and I am considering a cruise to celebrate 5 years of marriage. With that in mind:

- Have you been on a cruise?
- Where did you go?
- Which cruise line did you take?
- Did you enjoy it?
- Would you recommend it?

We're currently looking at a couple of western Caribbean cruises put the airfare to the ports of call is PURE REAMAGE.

I've never been on a cruise while on the bitch . I did go on a cruise through Greece once, tho. Loved it, highly recommended, don't remember the line, was fairly younger at the time

I've never been but I hear that cruises have the highest percentage of repeat business of any type of vacation. Everyone I know who went on one loved it.

I went on one of those Windjammer Barefoot cruises about 3 years ago. Had a really nice time. Like summer camp on a boat, very rustic accomodation and food, but totally adequate. When the sails were up it was beautiful. Diving off the boat into the Carib., awesome. St. Martin-St. Barts-Nevis-St. Kits. Pretty cheap too.

i would so love to go on a cruise at some point in my life. i had a friend who worked on cruise ships and his job sounded super-spiff--very well-paid, lots of time off at various ports of call, cool faux-naval uniforms

Last night I dreamed I went on the same cruise as Pharrell Williams. My boyfriend kept elbowing me and jealuosly spitting "Him? Don't laugh at him!!" when I was amused by his many hilarious jokes.

that David Foster Wallace essay ('A Supposedly Fun Thing...') is entertaining. Might make good precruise reading.

dreamt, obv.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 8 May 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Considering Pharrell's jokes aren't funny (if he ever makes any), your boyfriend must've been PISSED.

Considering Pharrell's jokes aren't funny (if he ever makes any), your boyfriend must've been PISSED. He'll be upset for real if he ever reads that post.

Excuse my dodgy connection.

He was quite humorous in the dream! And an excellent dancer.

Okay, this looks like possibly the greatest trip ever.

Looks good, Dan.

Roxy, could you arrange for Dream Pharrell to somehow replace the real one?

6 years ago I went to Bermuda on a Royal Carribean cruise. Best time ever. But I went with two friends and not with my wife.

We got smashed for 7 days straight and saw about 4 hours total of Bermuda.

I went on a cruise from singapore all the way up the side of malaysia to thailand, and back.

it was quite awesome, though i was 12 at the time. played a lot of mini-golf and arcade games.

6 months later, the ship sank. we think it was insurance fraud.

A trombone player friend of mine is on a cruise ship gig. Can't remember what line, but he says it's great (for the passengers anyway, as opposed to the crew). Especially if you'd like to sleep with women of a variety of nationalities, apparently.

From Cyprus to Egypt via Israel in 2000

Classic: the way the people who served food doubled up as the singers in the evening, the suprisingly luxurious cabin.

Dud: the formal table arrangments for dining. Some people brought suits with them specifically for this...

Bob Six (bobbysix), Sunday, 9 May 2004 07:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't but I would like to go on one, probably around Norway.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 9 May 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I have heared it said that cruises tend to be "Butlins on the sea", depends if you like that, don't mind that, or hate that...

mark grout (mark grout), Sunday, 9 May 2004 08:46 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, maybe I'll just hire my own boat then.

i was a ten pound immigrant to australia from england when i was nine. a cruise i guess. 4 weeks on chandros lines from one hemisphere to the other. it turned me off pineapple juice for ever. we lost a lot of volleyballs over the side. i spent the whole time pining for a 14 year old boy i had a serious crush on. i only vomited after 2 weeks - all over me mums shoes. i remeber a celebration on crossing the equator where the pool was only half full and the herky jerky of the waves made it a turbulent hell.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 9 May 2004 08:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Were they still shipping kiddies off to Australia that recently then? Or are you like 65? :P

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 9 May 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm 67 Trayce. i remember whitlam.

mullygrubber (gaz), Sunday, 9 May 2004 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Looks like a nice iter. Dan. But...but....think about one of the SAILboats with the Windjammer folks! Your wife will find it highly romantical!
