Where do you stand on this crucial divide?

Kingfish Disraeli (Kingfish), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

And what if you choose both?

Kingfish Disraeli (Kingfish), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm ok once you get to know me. other people would be okay if i didn't know them.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

sometimes I feel that my hating of everyone around me is just misdirected self-loathing. And then I remind myself that, no, everyone else is a dick.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I can have both.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

they go together, i think.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

They're not necessarily mutually exclusive.

TS: Fancying yourself vs Fancying everyone else around you

oops (Oops), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I got over a lot of my self loathing a lot faster once I realised some people were born to be hated on.

Barima (Barima), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

"I have a little black book full of telephone numbers I never call
Now I know it's my friends I hate and not myself at all"

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Nicole and Alex speak wisdom.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Obviously, it's better to hate everyone else. If you hate yourself then it'll take a lot longer to sort yourself out before you can work on curbing your misanthroponistic tenadancies. I'm sticking my neck out and saying it's a good thing to like yourself, and at least 10-15% of the human race.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I think my take on this is quite clear:

The occasional and overwhelming urge to kill everyone around you

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

every "everyone else is a dickhead" is another man's dickhead.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Mind your own, dickhead.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Mind your, own dickhead.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Mind your own head of dick.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Mind your head, dick.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Own your head, dickmind.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Head of dick, farm of cock.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I know what you're all like, you greedy, cowardly perverts. I know your secret thoughts and sneaky hole-and-corner ways. You'd all boink your own sister, if you could. And I know one of you stole my strawberries, too, you sneering, fawning liars. How do I know this? Elementary, my dear lads and lasses. Introspection!!

Aimless (Aimless), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I did not steal your strawberries!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Repent and ye shall be saved.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you steal his cherry *ILX groans* ?

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

What about on a larger scale? Do haters blow stuff up while self-haters write books? Is a serial killer a hater or a self-hater?

Mmmmm...strawberries....

Evanston Wade (EWW), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I read an article in some psychology journal or another (it was a slow day at work), it basically stipulated that Narcissus actually hated himself, coz the extent of his self-love meant he could never be happy or have the one he loved. I've probably got this all wrong, I shall have to find the article again.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that like when you masturbate so much that it hurts?

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

oh well, can't find the reference anywhere, was pretty sure I found it on Proquest, I'll have a look in psycINFO.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

These are very caught up with one another and each feeds into and causes the other.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I am having a lot of fun working out the referrants of "these".

Aimless (Aimless), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmmmm...strawberries....

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I give up on my search.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

jel OTM re: liking yourself and 10 percent of the population.

there isnt a good reason to hate yourself.
there cant be a good reason to hate everyone on the planet besides yourself
however, there are plenty of good reasons to hate 90 percent of the world, mostly cause most people suck
