"I.M. Weasel," source of FatNick syntax: Classic or Dud?

"I.M. Weasel." Recurring portion of half-hour cartoon "Cow and Chicken." Features world-famous omnicompetent weasel named I.M. Weasel, whose adventures tie in with those of his ignorant, incompetent baboon counterpart, I.R. Baboon, from whom FatNick borrows his syntactical idiosyncracies. Excellent theme song sung by April March.

Discuss cartoon or discuss I.R. Baboon syntax and FatNick's appropriation of it.

For example, the baboon would say something like, "I.R. entering New Answers."

lest us not forget that dg was (moderately) appropriating it first.

i.m. weasel is very fine. i just imagine fatnick talking like the baboon and everything's alright.

That cartoon was hilarious for about a week. I then realized that it sucked Satan's nuts. To this day, I am crushed by this shocking realization.

I think it has some fabulous moments.

I've been surprised for quite some time that no one here seems to find the way this guy talks as teeth-clenchingly annoying as I do. I suppose this is supposed to be some kind of counter culture selective tolerance for certain fucking stupid things that people do, but, really, enough with the "I R x stuff. And the cartoon really sucks by the way. just... sucks.

I should explain a bit - I love this cartoon and even FatNick's robbing of it because for some reason I find total vandalism of language quite funny.

DG, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

total vandalism of language by the way just...suXoR

mark s, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Evidently.

DG, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

syntax = funny the first three sentences and then really irritating (i never liked the cartoon either)

Maria, Wednesday, 31 October 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it doesn't bother me.

It's like some fucking advert that never stops. If I ever hear it spoken out loud I'll descend into a RED HAZE and murder the speaker.

Are you selling tickets? I would enjoy seeing that.

FatNick = Baboon?
[or 'has face like a baboon' in Molesworthese]

i don't mind it, but it's very contagious. i have to deliberately avoid typing 'I R' all the time.

Hijacking language = cool when I R Fatnick does it

Hijacking language = fucked when Americans spell things incorrectly and then spawn Microsoft who ship their shite to Australia with the default spell checker dictionary being American therefore causing dumbass Melbourne newspapers to adopt American misspelling because it's easier than changing to the British or Australian dictionary in Word.

I love Microsoft for many reasons but I *HATE* them for this. Even more I *HATE* the Australian government for not being gutsy enough to stand up for the English language by banning imports of heathen, misspelled products.

Oh, and I hate them for not stopping the Americans, Brits & Frogs from doing their Nuclear testing in the Pacific and I hate them for allowing the Americans to have military bases here and I hate them for sending Australians to Afghanistan, and previously Iran, to fight America's filty oil wars for them - what is is that makes them unable to learn from Gallipolli. Freaks. November the 10th, we can vote them out!

I hope those Afghan refugees are liking Nauru.
