You know, the ones that say BOSTON or BROOKLYN or DUFFER or CCCP or something diagonally up one side and down the other.

I need some new tops: Are these cool?

Graham, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No. But don't trust me. I'm currently wearing a black Windy and Carl T-Shirt, zip up brown-maroon cardigan and grey corduroy sort-of- flares.

RickyT, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No. Big dud. Imagine you're having a firework display next week, and you've bought as the piece de resistance the biggest and best pyrotechnic that's ever come out of China. You tell all your mates, lock up your pets, and then light the touch paper. It goes Fff. Then nothing. That's what those tops are like.

Mind you, don't go to Uniqlo for your hoodies. They're so dull!

Well, I'd go for something without any writing on it. Say no to numbers. I say go for something from here...really rad looking hoody tops toward the bottom of this page:

God, they're not still wearing hooded tops in Manchester, are they?

Nick, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes. It's fucking freezing.

Graham, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yum indeed.

Graham, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

GRAHAM DO NOT DO IT!!!!!

katie, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

In the States, only a girl would say "I need some new tops". You may as well say "I need a new blouse".

Sean, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, well we're all gender benders over here. Especially Graham. As a matter of interest what word would you use instead as a generic term for things that you wear on the upper part of your body? Shirts? Over here that means things with buttons and a collar (or variations thereof).

Nick, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Shirts means anything you put on your upper half in the states.

I want one that says Brooklyn.

Ally, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hoody sweatshirts in general are cool because they are WARM. I have considered joining school sports teams to get the sweatshirts (but was too lazy to bother). I like the cross-country ones this year. They're plain and gray and have XC on the back. . It doesn't really matter what they as long as it's not inspirational.

Maria, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I want a shirt like the striking miners at the Pittston mines in West Virginia had about 10 years ago: "Overcome Evil With Good"

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

three weeks pass...
I am now sitting here proudly in a navy BOSTON top that I bought from Stolen From Ivor, FUCK YOU ILE. It is very very cold.

Hurrah, Sean, it is a Ladies' top, according to the sizes (and if I'm as WEENIE as Sarah makes out, how come I'm a Ladies Medium/Large? Ivor's light fingered friends = Anorexia).

Q: Must I now visit Dan to validate myself, or does him coming here count?

Graham, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Also, I rcognised Boston in the titles to Good Will Hunting and watch a lot of Ally McBeal. I still look life an arse though)

Graham, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmph perhaps I could get one which says BRIXTON on it. Or perhaps Peckham. I'll treat Mark S to one which says "Hackney". Arrghhh!! Nooooo! P3NG3!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarah, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've even seen one with DA BUSH written on it. Oh Lord, save us from this madness now afore I cast myself into a food blender!

RickyT, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Shut it, cutey BOXEN.

Graham, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no, very mid 1987 look...very, very bad...not quite as bad as citrus, but just as bad as acid wash...you have been warned.

geoff, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No way. "Da Bush"?? I want one that says "Goos" "Nargh" across it.

Sarah, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But Graham, what's wrong with JUMPERS?

Actually, I know entirely what's wrong with jumpers, wool itches and cotton stretches...

alext, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)
