Voice texts

On Saturday night I was sitting in the pub writing a text message to a mate of mine and must have accidentally sent it to his landline because the next day he received an answerphone message read out by a prim and proper female Stephen Hawking machine voice going "Pop genius MJ Hibbett is playing Boom Shake The Room".

Obviously as soon as I heard about this I sent him two more messages just so he could hear that posh robolady's voice going "fuck you, you fat motherfucker, I fucked your bitch" and "I want to to cum on my tits". Yes, puerile I know but it enlivened my Sunday slightly.

Anyway, I had no idea you could send these things. Is this some sort of new-fangled fad or has this always been around without my noticing?

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I sent one to my house phone and promptly got a delivery report confirming it had been sent.... Will need to wait till I get home to find out.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

This is great. Anyone got an idea for an actual use for it, though?

Flameproof (Flameproof), Monday, 17 May 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

yay! the t-mobile woman phoned me and said "hello human how are you today?"

jel -- (jel), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

"Ass. Titties. Ass and titties."

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha ha, my boyfriend just phoned me and asked what the hell that was all about - he got home and checked for new messages and the woman said "Fuck you fuck off." But she ruined the fun by rhyming off my mobile number beforehand. Bah.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

So do you have to have voicemail to do this?
My guess is yes. No "Ass 'n Titties" for me :(

sgs (sgs), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmm, appears to be so. Hours of fun/wasted free texts for me tho

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Shall I try it, Sarah?

Gah. Number not in use. Damn NTL.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

you can always just text your house phone and wait for it to ring (that's what I did)

jel -- (jel), Monday, 17 May 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine doesn't work. I sent a text to my house phone, and it wouldn't have it. Didn't even ring. U R ALL GAY.

Johnney B, Monday, 17 May 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

doesn't work with my Mum's phone (I changed the message content considerably for that) or my home phone. I'm wondering whether it only works for certain mobile networks.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 06:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I know Telstra here does this, Ive seen the ads on the tram for it... but it never crossed my mind to send rude txts, I think I assumed some real person would call and relay the message. I'd be very embarrased if I sent something dodgy for a laff and it WAS some poor real person!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 07:01 (twenty-one years ago)

So do you have to have voicemail to do this?

No! just texted myself... this will deliver *hours* of fun...
