Mary Mouse Lightvessel, Haslar Marina, Gosport.

Do you like it? I am interested in your opinion.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

hybrid vessels arent really my forte as such. i'm a traditionalist when it comes to lighthouses, preferring them on land, to mobile. i only likes boats a little (though barges are fine).

i am becoming more interested in mini-lighthouses, such as the one under the GWB. there are a number in the puget sound also, which i would like to have seen more closely

What do you think this man would do? Would he move your lighthouse to Milton Keynes?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Personally, I wouldn't blame him, especially given the poor quality of local lighthouse keepers in Gosport.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Why were you in a bad mood barry? Cheer up, there's a new moon tomorrow.

NEW MOON ON WEDNESDAY

Duron Duron (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I am in a bad mood today too. I am tired and my job is making me feel worthless.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I've just been for a 45 minute walk in the sun (dropping off some scripts, and saving on a courier, whoot) and bought some pak choi and I feel a bit happier. Plus I get to go back to muh honey in 10 minutes and subtly mention that the West Ham vs Ipswich game is on the telly.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

If your girl is anything like mine, mentioning sports will only get you a handjob at best. (NO NO DON'T POST THIS YOU FULE)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Patrick Kinghorn, Tuesday, 18 May 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I fear where this will end up.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm in a bad mood, too, mark - because i got in TWUBBLE again at work. IT'S LIKE A DAILY AFFAIR NOW.

mandee, Tuesday, 18 May 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Unfun, Mandee. :-( Is yer boss being obnoxious?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Mands, what happened? I didn't get in trouble, though I did get caught playing Play for your Club, which was pretty much inexcusable...

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

eleven months pass...
I'm in an extremely bad mood for some reason! Everyone stop being happy (but only for two seconds or so, I don't want to impose).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 April 2005 13:47 (twenty years ago)

i didn't think this was possible. Ned in Human After All shockah?

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 18 April 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

Hmm? I've had my moody moments, good sir! Or at least I thought I've mentioned them on here.

Slightly weird blast of angst in that a birthday party for a friend and a catch-up dinner with another over the weekend both fell through, combined with it being a Monday morning as well as this weird looming sense I get from time to time that people chase down media products to give their intellectual lives some meaning. Mind you, I do the same.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 April 2005 13:53 (twenty years ago)

I was just thinking about that last night, Ned. I've watched a helluva lot of Tv & movies in my life simply because everyone else was doing it. It's critically acclaimed! Do it! Then we can talk about it afterwards!

But, in the end, I think I really AM that lazy and really do like just sitting around being entertained sometimes.

(I'm sorry you're feeling grumpy, btw).

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:03 (twenty years ago)

Aw, thanks. No worries, it'll pass, I just need to wake up a bit more and get some work done (and indeed, listen to some new music so I can talk about it ;-)). The virtue of laziness crossed with entertainment is often ignored.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:06 (twenty years ago)

I'm also in a bad fucking mood (shockah!) Over dinner with a guerrilla death squad of in-laws on Saturday night, I was pushed on the topic of evenutually having to leave Manhattan due to spiralling real estate costs and the costs of schooling (a sensitive subject) and -- emboldened by four or five Turkish beers -- I summarily spoke my mind on the subject (rife with lots of needlessly flowery imagery of a decidedly descriptive nature)...managing to offend one or more members of the party. I now feel like a prize-winning jackass about it, despite completely standing by whatever it was that I said. Here's a good tip: drunken frankness with one's in-laws is not a good policy.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:07 (twenty years ago)

Oh Alex. That's a horrible minefield.

NED BE HAPPY YOU FUCKER :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) SMILE OR BE STOMPED

NED SMASH!

ALEX SMASH!!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:11 (twenty years ago)

Ha. I'm in a bad mood every morning.

Hurting (Hurting), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

Eep! The monster Perry attacks!

Happily the spring cleaning work yesterday combined with relistening to my Stephen Moore-reads-Douglas-Adams tapes for the first time in a decade (guess why I dug those out) meant the weekend itself was actually quite a good one, on top of an excellent Friday night. Maybe I just need some tea and to finally catch Sin City, which presumably will be cathartic.

I will say this about being single, not having to deal with in-laws is rather a blessing.

Je4nne ƒury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

Heheh.

Still in a bad mood! Must break the spell with some work here.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:19 (twenty years ago)

life's not so bad on the other side of the hudson, alex ...

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 18 April 2005 14:20 (twenty years ago)

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 18 April 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

The Firm made Asia look like fuckin' Hawkwind.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 18 April 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

The Firm made Asia look like fuckin' Hawkwind.

at least the firm didn't release a zillion live albums at every shitty dive bar in every big city in the world.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 18 April 2005 15:15 (twenty years ago)

How can someone be "into" a band who only managed, like, two studio albums (both long out of print, I'd wager)? Being "into" the Firm in 2005 seems like being really "into" Johnny Hates Jazz or Mr.Mister in 2005.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 18 April 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

in college, we used to call johnny hates jazz "joannie hates jizz."

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 18 April 2005 15:38 (twenty years ago)

One hell of a digression here! :-)

Anyway, I have cinnamon tea and a cinnamon twist and am feeling much improved, so hurrah for cinnamon. But not cinnabutt.

My tendency to get myself a bit wound up over minor foolishness, while not overwhelming, is still a bit disconcerting, hm. Same with jealousy, jeeps.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Monday, 18 April 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

Heheh. Something like that.

No, Dan, the original Jeep from Popeye I tell you. ;-)

I've only actually met 'the folks' once in the past, with Jane's parents -- and they're solid people through and through. The idea of marrying into a family just always seems kinda weird, though, and I say this given that in my family it's much clearer in terms of relationships that my mom married into my dad's rather than vice versa.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 April 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

wtf you people are scared of rural OH?

GROW ONE SET OF BALLS

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 18 April 2005 17:38 (twenty years ago)

Are Xenia or Yellow Springs considered "rural"? Because I live those towns!

Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Monday, 18 April 2005 17:39 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha! I mean "LOVE"

Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Monday, 18 April 2005 17:40 (twenty years ago)

No, you live them, in your MIND.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 18 April 2005 17:40 (twenty years ago)

Man, I tell you the Maple Syrup Festivals are where the real shit goes down.

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 18 April 2005 17:46 (twenty years ago)

i think someday i will move to the country. there's something about waking up and seeing a mountain or something that's nicer than looking at buildings.

i'll probably still have bad moods though.

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 18 April 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

wtf you people are scared of rural OH?

The northern KKK headquarters is in the dead zone between Cincinnati and Dayton.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 18 April 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

alex, you never said where in suburban/rural PA yer sister-in-law lives.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

I wash my hands of anyplace in OH below Columbus.

pontius kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

oh c'mon the kkk is about as scary as my dead granny these days.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

actually my dead granny is prolly scarier what with the decomposing and stuff.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

Dayton has a nice little mall - Beaver Creek!

Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:07 (twenty years ago)

cleveland is supposed to be nice, though.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

Dayton is where they keep the dead alien. Or is he really dead?

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

Cleveland is all right; I only ever go there to visit family.

I will forgive Ohio a multitude of sins for containing both Cedar Point and King's Island.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

I threw up at Cedar Point and then drove home in my underwear.

Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

And Sea World Ohio!

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

Dan, Akron has a busy, bustling airport now. I use it now instead of the Cleveland one.

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

There should be a Cedar Point FAP.

I shouldn't really pick on OH, but any rural area where there's just miles and miles of cornfields freak me out a bit.

Leon Future Coffee (Ex Leon), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

"Dan, Akron has a busy, bustling airport now. I use it now instead of the Cleveland one."

can be easily misread as

"Dan Ackroyd has a busy, bustling airport now. I use it now instead of the Cleveland one."

jel -- (jel), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

That would explain his weight gain.

Leon Future Coffee (Ex Leon), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

Dan Ackroyd airport would be near LA.

Samuel Glickstein (nordicskilla), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

We always drive to OH, though, because we've got the Akron/Cleveland axis on my side to visit and the Cincinnati axis on my wife's side to visit. So yeah, we see a bunch of rural OH and rural PA on the way with its scads and scads of country/oldies/country oldies stations that kind of reinforce to me that I'm never living anywhere with a population under 200K ever again.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

alex, you never said where in suburban/rural PA yer sister-in-law lives.

She's in West Chester, PA....not too far from Wilmington, DE (which I only know as that was the train stop we got off at).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 18 April 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

She's in West Chester, PA....not too far from Wilmington, DE (which I only know as that was the train stop we got off at).

how the hell do you burn nachos

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 01:01 (twenty years ago)

This thread came a day too late for me ... I've been a bit of a sloth today, then I managed to accidentally offend the promoter of this weekend's Rhythm and Sound show, then I yelled at my bank for fucking me over vis a vis my credit card ... I'm not so much in a bad mood as I am pissed off with myself.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 23:41 (twenty years ago)

NEW MOON ON WEDNESDAY

I can't believe my Duradar completely failed to pick up on that!

Anyway. Bad moods. Um -- I was in a bit of one this morning, but I'm all better now. I hope all those who are experiencing bad moods right now are able to get out of them soon.
