Gale Deslongchamps, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's this thing

mark s, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jess, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

sorry jeps. that's your new affectionate name by the way.

rainy, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jeps! So nice, then we can make cuddly comments about him and he will freak in cute ways.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

are they featured in giant factory houses?

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

could be... actually yes, I believe they are.

rainy, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's this thing

I see I'm not the only one to be taken with this universal answering strategy.

Nick, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

is it Pyrex? tell is, oh rainy one!

ps. "it's this thing" - classic.

katie, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Wrong. It's that thing.

AP, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

is it non-stick?

Geoff, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

is it like candy glass, like they use in the movies when people are supposed to get chucked through windows an' stuff an' they don't want their precious stunt people to get cut to ribbons by real glass...?

cameron, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah - we call that sugar glass. I used to have some and spent some time smashing it over my head. But in a way this is too much information. I preferred just knowing it was this thing.

Nick, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Misread 'is it' for 'it is'. Good! The cloud of unknowing descends again.

Nick, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's something Maryanne does on her dream date, that much we know.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Does her dream date enjoy it?

mark s, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If accompanied by the appropriate amount of caution, I don't see why he shouldn't.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, it's certainly something rude

Nick, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it isn't anything! it just something Maryanne and Rainy made up! well, you can keep your dumm, private language coinages, i didn't wanna know anyway.

cameron bain, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

cameron, honey pie, don't be like that!

rainy, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Cameron, there's no such thing as a private language, duh.

Nick, Saturday, 3 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

if you can have a private conversation why can't you have a private language?

cameron bain, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, it was just a lame joke

Nick, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no, i'm sorry...another glaring omission in my 'erudition'. doh!...i'm not too up on my Wittgenstein. i like the last sentence of the "Tractatus" and i also really like the language-as-city analogy he draws in "Philosophical Investigations", but, as is probably pretty obvious, i haven't read either of these books in their entirety.

cameron, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't worry, neither have I. Actually, that's not a reason not to worry. But still, you shouldn't.

Nick, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ps, Rainy and Maryann, i'll have you know that, to date, my cooky glassless life has been a veritable triumph, a shining testament, if you will (and even if you won't) to the majestic resilience of the human spirit in the face of all manner of adversity, including bizarre quiz questions, and i remain deeply unperturbed by this question in particular. So there.

cameron bain, Tuesday, 6 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Cameron: IT'S THIS THING!!!!!!!!

rainy, Friday, 9 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)
