Now I did spend ten minutes checking if this had been asked, and I'm sure it has, but as it's kind of a now question, please don't shoot me for asking it again.

(it's also probably pretty much anglo-centric, so apologies for that too)

As I'm about to become unemployed, and envisage at least a few weeks sitting around at home doing "research" (ho ho) online, what ISP should I use which will give me reliable 0800 internet calls for a cheap monthly fee? And I really don't fancy AOL.

Thank you, you beautiful people you. And apologies. Again. Always.

I also now have several porn cookies on my work computer thanks to trying to find an answer to my question. Lucky I'm leaving, eh?

BtInternet Anytime (or maybe it's called BTOpenWorld now) £14.99 per month, unlimited internet access 24/7 including online charges.

See http://www.btopenworld.com/mybtopenworld/anytime/

I neither work for them nor profit from this recommendation.

But Daddy M, can I get it with an NTL phone line?

Still searching for tha holy grail of cheap but speedy web telephony...

> But Daddy M, can I get it with an NTL phone line?

No. Silly assumption on my part. Sorry.

David, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The incredibly irritating thing is NTL themselves are supposed to be offering exactly what I want (100 kbps line for £12.99/month) but they don't offer fucking ANYTHING to me because "we can't install digital cable in blocks of flats". I hate them, I really do.

Mark C, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

don't freeserve, lineOne etc, do paid-for access which would work on any phone line?

m jemmeson, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, I think so. But the problem is you just keep getting an engaged tone with most of them. NTL's service sucks too, apparently.

Nick, Friday, 2 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

BT R clearing up now but Tiscali and freeserve also offer similar service.
