Eating before bed

I've got into a really bad habit of having to eat just before I go to bed.

I really want to get really skinny so that I can wear lots of skimpy/fishnet clothing through summer but if I continue eating just before bed I am going to put on lots of weight.

Does anyone else here suffer from the pre-bed munchies?

BTW - I know fishnet is very last season but I've been wearing it for 16 years and I'm not stopping now.

I have a theory on the pre- bed munchies. I think it might be because I sit in front of the computer for so many hours without going and getting a drink of water or anything that I am actually really dehydrated but I'm misinterpreting the thirst as hunger.

only you can test yr theory

i have been eating at rubbish times lately — no lunch, urgent sugar-deficiency "snack" supper at 6 (eg large pkt crisps, three bars choc); proper-ish meal at 9, ILx till 3, bed, late "pret" breakfast on way to work at 11- ish.

yeah i just eat whenever i remember to so just before going to bed or just before staying up all night on the computer is usually good. also i always eat cheese on toast as my late nite eat, y'know just because 'you're not supposed to'! (eat cheese)

I eat right before meals so I'm not actually hungry when I have them (but I eat them anyway). Try drinking something before bed, like milk or hot chocolate or something non-caffeiny.

i sometimes eat before bed, but i do not suffer. eating is always good.

I oddly enough am eating 2 Pogos but thats because the bottle of wine I finished off for dinner with a friend has made me hungry and it was that or leftover pad thai. I dont have to worry though I cant put on weight even if I try. The only rule I have is no donairs anywhere near bedtime cause those things give you truely messed up dreams.

Toraneko, you may want to eat a bowl of Pops before bed, as the sugary of it helps put one off to sleep sugarcrash. Why do you want to loose weight anyways? HOw banal.

you'd get far more attention if you put on weight in sumo fashion, then EVERYONE would look at you in fishnets.

I agree with Mike Hanle y on this one, the very idea of wight loss is banal and terribly conformist. Eat whatever you damn well want before you go to bed, and wear whatever you like.

two years pass...
The problem with eating before bed is that your stomach "works" all night preventing you from sleeping properly. The only way to stop the bed time munchies is to bit down (not of food) and stop the habit. If your stomach is used to eating before bed, its going to be hard to break the habit, kinda like trying to convince your stomach that there is no such thing as supper.
Good Luck...

Sheesh... those sound like top tips for having a) a really boring unhappy life, and b) a desperately unhealthy attitude towards food.

Sorry Alison, don't mean to get at you but you sound pretty obsessive to me.

If you wanna lose weight, just eat a bit less and exercise a bit more... that's all there is to it, folks.

Besides, a bit of cheese before bedtime gives you wicked cool dreams.

five years pass...

I basically ate two dinners last night, one of them immediately before bed. I was painfully full. I tossed and turned all night, and this morning I was still in pain, but this time because I was starving. I felt empty and distended, like someone actually dying of hunger.

Do not do this.

You realize the NNs will hunt you down and tickle you senseless, right?

Whenever I eat fries before going to sleep (even when it's like a few hrs before I go to sleep), it feels like there's some dead rat in my mouth the next day.
