I can top that one Matt DC. Bus ticket machines that sell tickets that are only valid on certain routes, so when you try to use them on the wrong bus the driver refuses to accept the ticket and asks you to pay full fare. I should point out that nowhere on the machine does it tell you that you can only use the ticket you've just forked out a quid for - but it does tell you on the bus stop about four feet above your head, useful if you're a fucking giraffe.

buses in Oxford are remarkably sensible in comparison. I had the minor irritation on Sunday night of having to get off the bus and wait for the next one, but with good reason. The driver and managed to clip the (huge) wing mirror of some band's tour bus outside the Zodiac, which shattered one of the windows and sent splinters of glass flying across the bus.

My main gripe at the moment is with ppl who ring me up on my mobile or send texts and then promptly switch their phones off so I can't get back in touch with them. A friend I had tentatively arranged to have lunch with yesterday rang me at about 9.15 in the morning - my phone was switched on but I was downstairs and it was upstairs and I discovered the missed call about half an hour later. Rang back, got the dulcet tones of the Orange answering service woman. Repeatedly.

The woman who works at the convenience store told me it was "not right" to allow my son to touch the buttons on the ATM. His hands were clean and he is gentle. I see no reason why I shouldn't allow him to touch the buttons. Without swiping a card, there was no way he could actually operate the thing or break it. No one responded to the job inquiries I sent out over the weekend. I'm vaguely depressed and tired and I have stuff to do but no motivation to do it. I'm pissed off at myself for leaving people in the lurch last Friday and I wish I could go back and have a do-over. I shouldn't be brooding; I should be forging ahead without a second thought. That's what regular people do. But I'm too neurotic.

Also, I'm horny.

I did a humungous mailmerge yesterday lunchtime and it printed out 1 page of its 475 every two minutes all yesterday afternoon, overnight, and all this morning. I have no idea why it was so slow. Breaking it up into chunks of 10 pages sped it up a bit, but it was still only 1 page about every 30 seconds. I found it a minor irritation but I'm sure my co-workers found it to be major.

My right eyelid is sore and swollen for no apparent reason.
I have a dry, very occasionally itchy spot on my left elbow that has expanded over the past month but I'm procrastinating about even going to WebMD to find out wtf it is because I'm tired of having skin diseases.
I have a zit or an ingrown hair on my butt that is uncomfortable to say the least.
In December we have to start working 12-hour weekend shifts. The frequency of these will be determined by my boss's success in hiring lots of new, fully qualified people in the next two weeks. Ha, ha.

OTOH:
I do get paid quite a bit of money.
I do have a hot fiancee.
I do not have a headache.
I do have all of my fingers and toes and kidneys and a functioning liver.
I did get a free Coke Zero from some dip who was trying to get me to shop at some mall somewhere.
Also the asian wood flute + bass guitar buskers outside the Metro this morning were playing ABBA.
