I just found this. Will Super Famicom games run on my USSNES? Are there PAL/NTSC issues to worry about here. I know all Gameboy games work.....

there are converters that costs like £10 that sits between your cartridge and your SNES. but then whether you can still get hold of one or not i don't know.

TRON FIGHTS FOR THE USERS (ex machina), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess magnetic disks are ok...

TRON FIGHTS FOR THE USERS (ex machina), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

why?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

because playstation and xbox suck. although i do like gamecube. I dunno, the games just feel shitty. so many ps1 games had terrible play and control.

also, later final fantasy games eat it

TRON FIGHTS FOR THE USERS (ex machina), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

what does that have to do with cartridges?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

There is only one answer to this question: ZERO WING

57 7th (calstars), Tuesday, 1 June 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

No, there that is not the answer.
The one real answer to this question is SUPER ROBOT WARS.

The other possible answer to this question is SD GUNDAM G-GENERATION.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 2 June 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

NB I have ACTUALLY PLAYED THESE (well not the latest versions to be honest). EVERYONE BE JEALOUS.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 2 June 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 21:44 (nineteen years ago)

~~~~ DODONGO DISLIKES SMOKE ~~~~ (ex machina), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 21:46 (nineteen years ago)
Isn't that drum game in Lost in Translation?
Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 21:47 (nineteen years ago)
yeah, snes is intrinsically region coded by the different TVs used innit : /
cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 21:49 (nineteen years ago)
Japan and the USA both use NTSC. Europeans make crappy video games anyway!
Chrono Trigger didn't get a pal release but the NSTC converters are all over eBay, they're carts that have a slot at the back for NSTC carts and are cheap as chips. You should check out a game called Secret of Evermore that is a kind of Secret of Mana clone made by Square US, it's awesome. Also, the sequal to Terranigma, Illusion of Time (or Gaia in US/Japan) made by Enix (now merged with Square to become SquareEnix) is very good. If you get an NSTC converter you should also try and get Super Mario RPG (Square) and Earthbound which I haven't played but some claim it is the greatest RPG ever made. Also, get a Game Boy adaptor so you can play Pokemon and Resident Evil Gaiden on your SNES.
Del, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 22:06 (nineteen years ago)
Secret of Evermore and Illusion of Time were both PAL releases btw.
Del, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 22:07 (nineteen years ago)
Oh, Del is right about the goodness of chrono trigger and secret of evermore. I just went through secret of evermore emulator style around a month ago and it was a glorious experience. damn the snes was good for rpgs.
jeffrey (johnson), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 22:12 (nineteen years ago)
As for non RPGs Super Metroid and Super Probotector are both essential. Rocky N Pocky is this weird little Japanese arcade shoot em up/adventure thing where you get to control a girl that throws cards AND a racoon at enemies. It's hard as nails though. You should check out Heberekes Popoon which is a cool anime puzzle game.
xpost
Yeh Nintendo ruled for RPGs until Square jumped ship and started making shitty 3 disc emo FMVs for Playstation.
Del, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 22:15 (nineteen years ago)
Rocky n Pocky!!! I haven't thought of that in years!
