MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 06:28 (twenty years ago) link

hey, stevem, could you put this in yr groovy calendar? cheers.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 07:04 (twenty years ago) link

done. i'm *sure* i'm doing something on the 19th, but i have no earthly idea what... if i'm free, i'll be up for this, especially as i'm keen to see the mike nelson show at the moma.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 07:35 (twenty years ago) link

seriously dudes, i'm in paris that week.

enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 07:40 (twenty years ago) link

Erk. Getting back from Barcelona late that evening, no can do. Bugger.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 07:41 (twenty years ago) link

a likely story enrique, you are tom paulin and i claim my ten pounds.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 07:41 (twenty years ago) link

Yay! Two days of intense drinking (this is the day after I finish my finals)... I need to drag that out for an entire week.

Steve, is that Mike Nelson, the guy who's filled the top floor of Moma with lots of sand? I want to see that too.

jellybean (jellybean), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 08:58 (twenty years ago) link

yes, that's the one jelly.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:01 (twenty years ago) link

I want to see that too, but what games are on that day? Latvia v Germany (meh) Holland V Czech republic (must see game!)

chris (chris), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:05 (twenty years ago) link

what times are the games?

We can have an arty FAP.. go to MOMA. then go and watch the footie.
Obviously I'll be sitting in a corner moaning about why blokes are so into football, when they don't support any of the teams etc etc

jellybean (jellybean), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:06 (twenty years ago) link

they are on late, that's true, but the must see kicks off at quarter to eight, and that late night pi$$ed up journey home from Oxford is not one I'm fond of.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:08 (twenty years ago) link

But the magic bus!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:09 (twenty years ago) link

ooh, bad memories

chris (chris), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:09 (twenty years ago) link

You lamexors, it's much worse coming in the other direction. ther £20 taxi. the 45min wait at marble arch. the geezers still needing excitement.

eNRIQUE (Enrique), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:10 (twenty years ago) link

Wot is this 'taxi' you speak of? Pah use night buses, foo'.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:12 (twenty years ago) link

but buses in London are scary. they take you to strange places..

jellybean (jellybean), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:13 (twenty years ago) link

Sometimes use nightbuses (depends where I am -- ), but you know, like to get home before six.

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:15 (twenty years ago) link

chris, that's only a half 9 finish, the magic bus is FINE, you'd be back in london for the last choob peasy.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:20 (twenty years ago) link

(oh, BTW i think the other thing i was thinking of might have been us moving house, but i honestly can't see that happening by the 19th now...)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:21 (twenty years ago) link

and one of the magic bus companies has buses with (more) comfy seats and massive leg room now..

jellybean (jellybean), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:22 (twenty years ago) link

ooh, which one, red or blue? and have the blue busses got pissers on yet?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:25 (twenty years ago) link

You want MEGABUS though it might be too late to book.

Blue=Green
Red=Bogs
Megabus=KRAZY old thang

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:26 (twenty years ago) link

doesn't the megabus only go like 5 times a day or summat?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:27 (twenty years ago) link

yeah. it goes at really odd times of the day..

and isn't that comfy.

jellybean (jellybean), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:28 (twenty years ago) link

And it has weird paintings on it. But it costs about £1.50.

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:29 (twenty years ago) link

and have the blue busses got pissers on yet?

yes.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:37 (twenty years ago) link

I'll probably be there! I mean, not that anyone should get terribly excited at this or anything. Football, yay.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 09:44 (twenty years ago) link

This sounds good, assuming we can watch the football - yeah, we can get back to London in time for the tube.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 11:10 (twenty years ago) link

Friad you'll have to count me out. I already have 2 things I'm meant to be doing that day. Much as I'd like to see the old place.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 2 June 2004 12:28 (twenty years ago) link

revive!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:32 (twenty years ago) link

....unlike the Cambridge FAP this date is FIXED! And if you come to oxford this Saturday and Cambridge, um, somw time in July or August then you'll be able to compare notes....Ox v. Camb. FITE!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:39 (twenty years ago) link

At the mo', CAMBRIDGE.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:43 (twenty years ago) link

mumblemumble sorry like, about 5 other things on it appears, do want to come up sometime over the summer though :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:47 (twenty years ago) link

I think I'll be making a decision on this Saturday morning, but part of me likes the idea of watching the Holland game in a Dutch pub, so I may pass. We'll see.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:48 (twenty years ago) link

sorry, I don't think I can make it afterall. My friends are finishing their exams that morning, so the afternoon will be spent getting drunk with them somewhere.

jellybean (jellybean), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:50 (twenty years ago) link

I'm beginning to feel like Kate did on her Hackney thread *sigh*

(NB I'm not getting at anyone; it's just unfortunate, it just seems that the "picking a date that suits you" strategy doesn't work any better than the "consult everyone on what date they can make" startegy).

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:19 (twenty years ago) link

I would suggest the next weekend, but that's the Glastonbury weekend, so I doubt anyone one would be free, except me (but I might be going to the zoo that weekend!)

Most weekends over the summer will be fine for me, apart from the Truck weekend obviously.

jellybean (jellybean), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:21 (twenty years ago) link

I'm supposed to be looking for a flat and Saturday is flat hunting day for all of London. I suppose that doesn't stop me coming to Oxford in the evening, though.

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:21 (twenty years ago) link

What with football and DB coming to town, I'm very doubtful about this too. Sorry, Mark.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:43 (twenty years ago) link

that's ok! We'll arrange it for some other time.

This FAP is cancelled until further notice.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:46 (twenty years ago) link

In that case, y'all can come to Brighton to celebrate my birthday instead :)

Archel (Archel), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:47 (twenty years ago) link

is that an invitation? if so start a thread about it.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:48 (twenty years ago) link

OK. Only open to ILXers who can happily mingle with both Sinisters and people who have never dabbled in interweb mentalism at all though :)

Thread tomorrow.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:51 (twenty years ago) link

as a sinister who attended a Glasgow FAP which was composed completely of sinister ppl, ex sinister ppl and the partners of sinister ppl then returned to Oxford to watch the football with workmates, I suspect I might be the most qualified person on the board.
