Came a turn of a card away from winning £150 last night at the Herne's in Peckham Rye. Our team finished last in the actual quiz but then they have a Play Your Cards Right round at the end with the participant drawn at random. One of ours was drawn and I was bullied into stepping up to the plate, facing down a barrage of dissent and cries of "loser" cuz if you fail they draw again and someone else gets a go. First time I've ever given the finger to an entire pub's worth of people.
First four cards went my way and on the last card I had a 5, went higher and of course t'was a 4. Still, great fun for a Sunday evening. And the other two that went after me came nowhere near as close.
