1. Mohawk - The New York Art Quartet. 2. Songs Of You And Me - Chris Knox. 3. Astrakan Cafe - Anouar Brahem Trio. 4. Charmed, I'm Sure - Davey Williams. 5. Top Sounds From Top Deck Vol. 3 - The Skatalites. 6. The Fantastic Expedition Of Dillard And Clark - Gene Clark and Doug Dillard. 7. Point Of Departure - Andrew Hill. 8. Clear To Higher Time - The Blue Humans. 9. Automatic Writing - Robert Ashley. 10. Halleluja: Gospel and Prayers 1926-1946 - V/A.
You know where you are with it.
that one.
Partly cos theres a certain honesty and directness about lyrics and music in country that is not there in rockier stuff which tends to be more pretentious. Short answer to something I should really write about.
Talk Talk - Spirit Of Eden; The Notorious BIG - Ready To Die; Luomo - Vocalcity; The Comsat Angels - Sleep No More; ESG - A South Bronx Story; Dom & Roland - Industry; Labradford - Mi Media Naranja; Insides - Euphoria; The Auteurs - How I Learned To Love The Bootboys; Grace Jones - Nightclubbing.
And Ian is right about that Masterstepz compilation.

Jess - listened to the Perlon compilation in the shop and fully intend to pick it up, but I am afeared of its price tag.
Mitch - I haven't heard the Subrosa vs Kompakt release, though from what I know of it, it's basically random-but-celebrated electronica artists who have distribution through Subrosa getting their mittens on Kompakt tracks and fucking them over. So the quality is likely to be high, but I imagine it's not terribly representative of Kompakt generally. The Total compilations are the safest bet in that regard.
1. 20 Greatest Hits by Hank Williams
2. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
3. Sun Sessions - Johnny Cash
