It might sound quackers, but ducks from the city make a different noise to their country cousins.
London ducks have a rougher quack which resembles a shout, while ducks from Cornwall make a softer sound, a university study has found.

"The Cornish ducks made longer and more relaxed sounds. The cockney quack is like a shout and a laugh," said one of the research team.

It means that ducks' "accents" mimic those of the people in these regions.

The researchers said there was a reason for the sound made by the city ducks.

"London ducks have the stress of city life and a lot of noise to compete with, like sirens, horns, planes and trains," they explained.
