The only thing in London that I'm going to this week is the Snowstorm Records showcase night thingey at the Barfly this Wednesday. Long- time ILE regular Chris T-T is going to be playing, which is terribly exciting, and as I know he'd never be so shameless as to self promote here, I thought I'd do it for him.

Good luck with the Warp tickets, tho.

I might be going to the Clientele on Thursday if I can persuade Alex T of their worthiness.

Tom, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

blimming eck, i'm so not up to speed on these groovy happenings. warp thing? grr. the only vaguely interesting thing i'd picked up on this week was Mr Scruff on friday, but i think that might be a bit packed wiv yer nathan barleys,

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to the warp thing on Friday - no idea if it's sold out though. That's not very helpful is it?

Jonnie, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pfffff, good luck there Tom. Actually, I like two Clientele songs. However, this did take two years of making a face whenever the songs came on mix tapes and a fucked fast forward button. I don't think I like any of the others. Har.

Is Sussed on this Wed? I know it is by no stretch of the brane Lundun Town, but I might be intending on making an expedition...

On Thursday Buffy is on. I will be watching that. In London.

Sarah, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes Sussed is Wednesday. Come and SAVE IT from destruction!

Tom, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am seriously considering sussed. t'would be my 1st time. anyone care to hand-hold me there? i know there's the "oxford tube" bus, and then...?

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, I might be Warping on Friday or going to It's On, either would be *choice*. Before that, it's Turner Prize shindiggery tomorrow, Esther's gallery on Thursday post-Buffy and a few good nights in. Maybe to T-T on Weds if my dentist appointment doesn't pain me.

If I get the squeeze plus one Gareth I will mail you.

Chris T-T spotted in Metro shocker! The phrase "his low-rent indie blueprint" is used! Baroque is mentioned! And also BAGGY POWER CHORUS whot ho!

I think I shall be going to Sussed on Wednesday - it is easy to find! You go to Victoria, hop on an Oxford tube, get off at St. Clements road (I finks: at least the one that sounds like that when Mr Driver Mang announces) and it is at a place called BAR LATINO (or p'raps Club Latino, oy vey my hed)!

I will haf to go shopping for a new outfit I think. One that will fit over my post lazy junk food-y weekend big belly. Heeheee. I am starting to like my belly in a comedy manner. Heh. I am so bored at work I am finding amusement in sitting in my corner and PRODDING it. Hmmm perhaps I should start on that novel afterall.

If you're at a loose end this Saturday November 10 it's the Strange Fruit birthday party Upstairs at the Garage, to celebrate one whole year of Strange Fruit being in London. It's free entry all night, there'll be the usual off-kilter indie from myself, RickyT and the rest of the Strange Fruit Collective, and the bands for the evening are Amelia Fletcher's new band Tender Trap and the wonderful Vermont. There's bound to be a raffle at some point, too...

Paul Strange, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ok it looks like they're all gone, so hopefully either Ambrose or Suzy will have good news for me.

gareth, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

THANKS. got the directions. last time i was in oxford was years ago, and by coicidence i was staying near there (St Hilda's -- don't ask). so will be good. is 8 or 10 o'clock?

WARNING. starry, as you are one of the few people (with DG and Fatnick) i remember/will recognise from my vv brief ILE intro at the KoC couple o weeks back, i'll be saying hi. scared yet?

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not warping on friday due to a previous commitment, I'm annoyed now. Everyone who's anyone'll be except me. (I presume I'm somebody)

Ed, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan- when I've sorted out pre-Sussed drinkXoR details I'll post the meeting place here. Hooray!

Tom, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

group hug! thanks again

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They called me "irrideemably wet" in the Independent on Friday, in an otherwise friendly review. (And it was big, which is what counts apparently).

Obviously I *would* go to Sussed...

chris, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We are going to SUSSED. It's St Clements. There's no Road. We intend to travel to Oxford tomorrow afternoon and camp outside Club Latino, like a Daniel O'Donnell fan, hoping to glimpse one of our idols. Or Steve or Tom. Or visit our parents. At their house, not Club Latino. Why would they be there? Then in the early hours of Thursday morning we will either take a taxi back to our parents or go back to London. We have a lecture at 2pm on Thursday. We missed it last week due to snot surplus. We mustn't keep skipping lectures.

alix, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I might turn up again. Can you guarantee me no one with a penis will try to chat me up this time?

Graham, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

graham, are you going to any of the futuresonic events in manchester?

Ed, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan, sounds groovey! I'd say we should meet on the jolly old busXoR ride over there but I haf no idea when we're going to get it... I will also get back to you when we've decided, quite probably. And we can SNEKE some wine (for the purposes of LAW) GUMS on the coach also. Yay Oxford tube funs!

Sarah, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Given that Thomson is coming I can guarantee no such thing Graham.

Tom, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ed: where? whya? what? [Googles] no. Will Atomic Kitten be playing?

Tom: schucks

Graham, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

all next week, at several venues I forget, no atomic ketten I'm afraid. google sends me here

Ed, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ladybug Transistor on Friday! At the Toynbee Arts, I think, though I'm never sure of these things, I'm just blindfolded, taken to places and left to get drunk... Suits me fine...

emil.y, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Are tickets to the Sunday Warp thing gone too? The all-dayer at 93 Feet East with Fennesz, Minotaur Shock (swoon), Four Tet (possibly swoon) and Chris Clark (swoon, swoon) and apparently loads of other people?

I thought that sounded like a ver, verr nice lineup, but I probably couldn't go anyway, but I usually wait till things are actually happening to feel bitter about not going. Er. I fear I'm not making sense. (If anyone reading this actually has spare tickets then don't worry about me, I almost certainly wouldn't manage to go anyway, but, y'know...)

Rebecca, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

sonic boom kember is playing spacemen 3 songs here this saturday. only a week after spiritualized passed through. i am pretty well certain it will not be well attended.

keith, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

His show Saturday night had a good crowd, and it was a grand night out. I plan on seeing him in a month in LA. Spz, meanwhile, play next week, so we shall see...

Ned Raggett, Monday, 5 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

he is playing opposite dashboard confessional, i think, no contest as this is an emo town to its heart.
