Which is better, the feeling on your skin of clothes that are crisp and fresh and havent been washed yet, or clothes that have been washed at least once and are now soft and just a little fuzzy?

I say: clothes that have been washed.

depends if it's american or european clothes

Third day jeans are the best feeling in the world.

OK, not the best smell, but the best feeling.

why? (american or european)

what about asian?

all american clothes are really asian anyway.

AaronK (AaronK), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:40 (nineteen years ago) link

dryer warm clothes on chilly skin

kephm (kephm), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:43 (nineteen years ago) link

our dryer is so shitty and vicous I'm afriad to put most of my clothes in there.

really though, shirts need to be washed before they're comfortable, usually.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:46 (nineteen years ago) link

why? (american or european)

european clothes are designed to be not washed regularly.

I always postpone the first washing, because I feel certain I'll ruin my new shirt/skirt/whatever. But once you wash it - hopefully successfully - it truly becomes yours.

Third day jeans are the best feeling in the world.

Newly-washed jeans feel tighter, and therefore better.

It's bittersweet to wear jeans right after I buy them, because I know they'll never look quite that good again.

"european clothes are designed to be not washed regularly."

Is this another 'Europeans are smelly' belief?

A former co-worker once declared that he would, from that point forward, only wear brand-new never-washed socks. He would wear them once and throw them out. He decided that his salary could support it, and that since nothing felt better in the world than brand new socks, that is what he would do. I think he got bored of it after a week or two though.

DECADENT.

The answer to the main question is, clothes washed more than once.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 1 October 2004 19:43 (nineteen years ago) link

I hope he threw them in the direction of a poor, sockless person.

What I'm really wondering about here, though, is: where does everyone stand on clothes washed once and once only?

caitlin (caitlin), Friday, 1 October 2004 19:44 (nineteen years ago) link

I am never wearing new clothes without washing them again. I have an awful rash now. There is a lesson here for us all.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 1 October 2004 19:46 (nineteen years ago) link

New clothes, for definate. (I am a complete fool behind an iron, but I like uncrinkled stuff, so the only solution seems to be to wear stuff once, take it back for a refund, and repeat).

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 1 October 2004 19:46 (nineteen years ago) link

washing your clothes is for suckers.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Friday, 1 October 2004 19:59 (nineteen years ago) link

having the neighborhood koreans wash your clothes for you, however, is for kings.
