Now that Halloween has ended, I'd like to know anything and everything about all of your pumpkins. Stories, recipes, jack-o-lanterns, vandalism, sex, Siamese Dream, etc. etc. What do you make of the things?

Also.. what do you look for in a pumpkin when you visit the pumpkin patch? Symmetry? Absence of blemishes? Color tone? Size?

Pumpkins are horrible. I look for them to be wiped out in a gene plague.

i saw this great place in Massachusetts, a garden with an extroadinary number of pumpkin people acting out scenes from nursery rhymes and films and stuff. the house played 19th century european violin music. it wasn't tacky, but strangely beautiful

I made spiced pumpkin soup, which was yummy, and pumpkin curry, which was slightly less great. Unfortunately, in order to get the maximum amount of pumpkin for my cooking, i made the error of scraping too much flesh out so that when i cut an evil pumpkin smile the sides slowly collapsed and it ended up looking like an old person who had removed their false teeth! Not very spooky at all then.

Charlie Brown. The only good things about pumpkins are the happy times reading/watching Peanuts as a child.

On the sex thread, I scandalised Starry by suggesting a use for her round-mouthed pumpkin last Friday...

I make awesome pumpkin bread...I don't know the recipe by heart, but involves cinammon and brown sugar. Yummy.

I need to settle this once and for all, what is the capacity, in metric or imperial, of a cup.

Ed, Tuesday, 6 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think it may be 8 fluid ounces, that's what it was on new UK living programme, Chefs in the city anyway, which was rather fun. And for thoose of you in the uk with digital tv, behold, UK food = new channel, 149 on Sky digital folks, all your Nigella, Nigel and fat tongue needs catered for!

As long as this doesn't devolve into a discussion of Smashing Pumpkins...

Nicole, Tuesday, 6 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A hippy wastrel friend of mine had the brilliant notion of, whenever he got lucky, creeping out of fortunate girls bedroom early in the morning but not before leaving a pumpkin in his stead.

Menelaus Darcy, Tuesday, 6 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What's a pumpernickel then?!

Sarah, Tuesday, 6 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)
