Vanity Plates -- C/D S/D

I will be the first to admit a smarmy vanity plate often triggers in me the first flarings of road rage. No one likes to cut off by "BMWG1RL" or "SPDDEMON"; the vanity plate might be a cute accessory, but it only provides focus for my hate (fucking cunt).

Then again, I have seen some recently that I really like, e.g. "ROCKS"

Favorite vanity plate sightings?

There's a red Mitsubishi 3000 GT parked in front of my house. It's got red interior, red crushed-velvet upholstery, red THE CLUB, red dash lights, etc., etc., and the license plate is JAM POT.

Dud, and the vanity-plate version of those fucking "Princess"/girl-'tude/Calvin-pissing/bad-boy t-shirts and stickers are well beyond dud into "s/he needed killing" territory.

We do have vanity plates over here, yes.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm more into the design of vanity plates rather than the actual plate ids...

vanity plates of Nevada = the best. (THE NUCLEAR MUSHROOM CLOUD!)

vanity plates of Idaho = beautiful. Normal plates for Idaho = WTF? was the inspiration an American Ice pop or some shit like that?

Vanity plates for British Columbia = I KNOW HOW T0 YOOZ TEH MS PAINT SEE ME DRAW GREEN ZIG ZAG. Normal plates for British Columbia = "Beautiful British Columbia"? well compared to the vanity plates, very beautiful.

Washington states' used to be good with the centered font, but then they used some cheap-ass font and they suck now.

New Jersey plates = hmmmmm, that's it! Smog and piss for our Garden state plate color! People will LOVE it!

Pennsylvania plates = A nice big URL over a mixture of rainbow sherbert and the oil residue of an automobile garage. Delicious.

Maybe it's time to start that Critical Analysis Of The World's License Plates site after all.

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Huk-L, Wednesday, 29 December 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

The best vanity plate would be the one where I could fit this image onto it:

Michael White (Hereward), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw one today that read THEFIRM. They must be really excited about Paul Rodgers joining Queen these days.

Pleasant/Plains, Wednesday, 29 December 2004 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw "BAKSHI" on a Mercedes this afternoon, and "TARD1S" on a Mini Cooper earlier this year. And then there was the person who had "SOX WYN".

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 30 December 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw a black fancy car (something like a Rolls or Bentley) driving down the PCH in Malibu the other night with the license plate "OCCULT". I couldn't quite see who was driving but he resembled Vincent Gallo a bit.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Thursday, 30 December 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

saw on the way back to brooklyn today: SITAR.

Ian John50n (orion), Friday, 31 December 2004 01:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate these fucking things. It's all the rage for bogans in Australia to get them.
A woman I work with, her son's is RCR-BOI. Which of course is meant to be racer boy.

other fucked ones I've recently seen include A7ACK, THECAR, ITSOLD, there's more I just can't think of them right now.

Also, there's this:http://youtube.com/watch?v=YGyH8Kf_0Fg

Coincidentally, the guy in the clip's dad taught me English in high school.

Drooone, Friday, 11 May 2007 01:50 (nineteen years ago)

Aww my mom just got "SNG4JOY" on her new car! Her first new car EVER that wasn't a family vehicle. Sing for joy, that's my mom in a nutshell. The whole idea of vanity plates is CRAZY cheesy but for Moms I make teh exception.

Laurel, Friday, 11 May 2007 05:16 (nineteen years ago)

two months pass...

I saw this last night in the parking lot of a store a few miles outside of Detroit. I boggled at the sheer WTF-ness of this for a moment before circling back and taking a couple of pictures with my phone.

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/8454/0802071850wk7.jpg

I'm kind of in awe of the balls it must take to drive around in this vehicle, with that plate, in what is essentially the epi-center of the crumbling U.S. auto industry. I’m sure it’s meant as a joke, but man, what a complete ass.

hypo emesis, Friday, 3 August 2007 18:53 (eighteen years ago)

In recent weeks I have seen:

YOURHOT
GAWAIN
WHTE RBT (on a black Jetta)

luna, Friday, 3 August 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

I saw a yellow Hummer like that with tons of stickers of Big Bird and the custom plate was BIGBIRD. Equally baffling in a far less deliberately offensive way.

Abbott, Friday, 3 August 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

My favorite was a Volkswagen with V GEHTS.

Abbott, Friday, 3 August 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

That is excellent.

luna, Friday, 3 August 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

CRACKER is parked a block over from our house.

ILE 666 is out there too, but the cellphone pic didn't come out right.

Pleasant Plains, Friday, 3 August 2007 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

Somewhere in Brooklyn rolls the master of reality, ICUH8IN.

Jon Lewis, Friday, 3 August 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

I saw a great one tonight - "JCFreak". I wish I'd been quick enough to take a picture.

a sweet ballet dancer (ENBB), Saturday, 9 May 2009 04:36 (seventeen years ago)

I saw a TITAYS on the 10 freeway in Los Angeles, and wished I had a camera. I wonder how they explained it at the DMV.
