BBCi - What do you think of the redesigned BBC website rebranded and launched today as BBCi?
I reckon the changes made make BBCi the number one British Portal on the web, it is update, content rich, broad in scope and the site navigation has improved !
Lets face facts a lot of money/resources have been put into the BBC website - paid from our license fee, but the BBC IMHO have the best website compared to the competition:
Yahoo.co.uk - needs a makeover - looking too familiar? although it is content heavy.
MSN.co.uk - is improving content wise and also has a new look - Microsoft are throwing a lot of money in terms of development and advertising.
Teletext/ Ananova - are news oriented and good for breaking news, but not as comprehensive as the BBC.
Looksmart is plain boring.
UK Plus is for the clueless Daily Mail reader.
Virgin.net/Freeserve/BTopenworld/Tiscali/AOL etc - are general lifestyle consumerist ISP portals that will never be able to match the BBC.
Excite UK/ Lycos UK /Netscape UK/ Alta Vista UK/ Mirago etc - are generic search/directory portals with third party content sewn together to create bland mass media unfocused content dumps.
ITV/ Sky - I never visit them? Do you?
Without a doubt IMHO - the BBC are tops.
As Tom is an Internet analyst what does he think of the BBC website? and the competitors?
[I mentioned the BBC websites music coverage of my weblog, but on a more general note, here is the introduction to my weblog entry..]
BBC Rebrand Internet Portal as BBCi with redesigned website
A new-look navigation bar will appear at the top of all BBC websites, guiding users back to the main categories
What is BBCi?
BBCi is the new name and look for all our services across the web and interactive TV.
We're still offering a huge variety of information and entertainment, but we know that quickly finding exactly what you're looking for is the key to your enjoyment. So we've rethought the structure and presentation of our web and interactive TV services to make them really work for you.

I could answer your question DJ M but it would cost you a lot of money. :)

I haven't been there yet today but I do go to the Sky site regularly but only for football and other sports news, just like I never really watch the news on sky. For current affairs I watch the bbc and generally go to their website too.
