All the undergrad students will be gone for the Summer, so it will be deserted !

There will loads of Toon Army supporters around, as Newcastle United's training ground is in Durham.

[At the moment NUFC are in Thailand, but when they come back the City will be swamped with Black n white Toon Army types]

Why are you going to Durham, Toby? I don't even think I know where it is!

the good thing about this is that (fingers very crossed) there's a good chance that i'll be a dr by the time i get back.

there's loads of things to do in durham, you can look at the cathedral and the castle, and, um, er, well, er, be in newcastle in 20 minutes ;)

there's some half decent bouzers, although avoiding those around the bus station and on the road the bus station is on, the name of which escapes me at the mo, is probably a good idea (but then they are whetherspoons/walkabout type pubs, so i guess you'd avoid them anyway).

hmm, i'm sure i should know more. it's a pity you're not going up this weekend as it *should* be the miner's gala (if they still do it).

oh, it was last weekend...

durham sounds like cambridge only a lot worse. oh dear.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 16 July 2004 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

it has hills though, which cambridge lacks somewhat...

Durham is a very nice place, but the "20 mins from Newcastle" bit in carsmile's post is the most relevant bit so far.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 16 July 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

phew, glad it's not just me :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 July 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, lots of nice country walks! And a pretty river! And, er, a couple of good pound shops between the town and the station! And Newcastle is only etc.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 16 July 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha! I don't recall there being many charvers in Durham, carsmile steve! It's a bit upmarket for yer average radgie.
