hey, isn't the siren fest this weekend? i will very possibly stop by.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 16 July 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

NZA - Don't bother with Saved! See 9/11 instead. I haven't seen it, but Saved! is pretty bland. Check it out on video if you must.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Friday, 16 July 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Sigh. That didn't make any sense. To clarify, I haven't seen Fahrenheit 9/11, but it's probably better than Saved!

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Friday, 16 July 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Today: making and eating carne asada. possibly playing some baseball. probably imbibing some hard liquor

Tomorrow: either going to the Cubs game (free ticket!) or going boating in Wisconsin

Sunday: I don't plan that far ahead.

oops (Oops), Friday, 16 July 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what I hear. It's just that those are the two movies that are playing at a particular theater I will be across the street from. I'd really rather see any of the following than either of those: Spidey Deuce, El Notebooko, Will Ferrell With A Moustache, or Fresh Prince Get's Chased By Robots.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 16 July 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought I posted to this thread? Hmmm, probably gonna go and see Spidey and Shrek.

Today: ate Mexican with dad and brother, danced around my room for awhile, now just enjoying not having to go to bed in order to get up at 6:30.

Saturday: cleaning in the morning, grandparents, uncle, aunt, and cousins coming up in the afternoon, having my brother's birthday party

Sunday: relatives leaving, going away party for some family friends who are moving to Michigan

wow. my social life completely = my family.

Maria (Maria), Saturday, 17 July 2004 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Saturday: run laundry and then have a corned beef sandwich at Langer's followed by taking more things to the storage unit.

Sunday: Go see I'll Sleep When I'm Dead and then keep packing things up.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Saturday, 17 July 2004 07:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yesterday: surfed on sofa and watched Big Brother eviction to Ed's chagrin. Tim H swung by to check out the critical mass of spliffing couriers etc.

Today: fish for dinner - working out who to invite. Respect festival in afternoon if it gets nicer. Have to buy every art magazine ever this weekend to inform project I'm trying to put together, arrrgh, work.

Tomorrow: Clerkenwell rules! The big Italian festival is Sunday, featuring parade of hilarious 'budget' floats with twelve stations of cross plus float with oldest pensioner in parish playing God on His throne. This is London's most kitsch Catholic thing happening at the moment. Lots of food for sale on street eg. sausages. There's also another party being given by Metcalf in Exmouth Market with BBQ and t'ing. Having people over to watch spectacle and will try to win afternoon's drinkies on Italian bottle stall.

crying myself to sleep after obsessing over a girl, then going outside to hunt deer. with my bare hands. in the nude. covered in marolade.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 17 July 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

marmolade, i mean. keeps skeeters away. attracts ants though.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 17 July 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

by the way none of that was true. i am a liar.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 17 July 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I showed up in Coney Island way too fucking early this morning (I'm just too dang excited!). Anybody planning to go to Siren and feels like hanging out all nice and early keep an eye out for the thin-haired tall guy in glasses with the blue and white striped shirt and grey pants. He is me and he is anxiously awaiting the bands to start (I'm in an internet cafe wtf).

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 17 July 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Working.

(That said, today's workplace is quite laid-back; they don't have anything for me to do right now; Internet access appears to be unrestricted; and one of the boss-type people brought in lunch at his expense. Absolutely no need to pity me today.)

j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 17 July 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Yesterday: I was just gonna spend a quiet, sober evening with a friend and go to sleep early, but then some uni mates I hadn't seen in a while called me and asked me join them in a pub, and of course I couldn't say no. This led, unsurprisingly, to a night full of boozing up, clubbing and dancing, I didn't get home until 5 AM.

Today: still suffering from hangover because of last night, I'm not sure whether I'm going to do anything particular. Maybe rent a movie and watch it with my mate.

Tomorrow: a friend who's moved to another town comes to Helsinki, I'm probably gonna see her. Maybe go swimming, if the weather's as nice as today.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 17 July 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess I'll be looking for Oops at the Cubs game today.

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 17 July 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night, though tired, I stayed up needlessly late (not going out), thanks to too much caffeine. Today I woke up earlier than I would have liked. So basically the weekend is shot. I can't go dancing yet anyway thanks to sprained foot or whatever is wrong, but I think in a couple weeks that might be possible. I am too tired to want to be around people, and too wired to be able to take a nap. So: stay online, eat, listen to El Viaje tonight, read if I can manage to focus on anything but I'm having a tough time doing that.

This all sounds kind of gloomy, but it's really not so bad.

Rockist Scientist (rockistscientist), Saturday, 17 July 2004 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday - steamed some clams out in the back yard
Saturday - got nicely baked
Sunday - I've got to change a motor on a rather industrial-type of blower that operates at a sewage treatment plant. Anyone want to assist?

ROXY SEZ: I meant sunday when i said saturday OMG WTF

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 18 July 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Good game huh, john? My friend was talking mad shit about Maddux before the game, which obviously got him all fired up. Except that it's impossible for Maddux to raise his excitement level above highly sedated. There was no chance that I'd ever notice you there cause (a) I didn't know you'd be there and (b) you are not female. Beautiful day. Nice trippy cloud patterns undulating on the field.
I just realized that I didn't spend a single dime to see the game. Except for the gas I used. Free ticket, friend paid for parking, didn't drink beer cause I'd have to shell out $20 just to catch a buzz.
My friend had to sit next to the most obese man in the whole park. I think the guy heard him make some comment and then switched seats with his wife (to get "better sight lines")(nobody was sitting next to her). Because it's such a confined space, as he was switching seats his huge frontbutt wiped against the heads of the people in the row in front of us. Ewwww.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 18 July 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Ohmigod, I think I'm still hungover from Saturday night. What a lark.

Me and Colette barbequed and partied and generally enjoyed single life and danced till dawn (no more Scissor Scisters, PLEASE!) until poor Rob had to scrape me off the carpet, pour me into a bucket and put me to bed. I love my friends.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 07:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday: Spent most of day hungover, made a mushroom risotto for me and flatmate Tom. Had one glass of wine, body rebelled, stayed up setting the world to rights (sober!) with flatmates Tom and Kate.

Saturday: Read papers in bed, had girly chat and spliffs with Kate. Attended my first ever poker game with Tom, got whisky sloshed, wobbled home from Islington and stayed up drinking Benedictine.

Sunday: Went round to Toby's to eat sausages and distract him from being nervous before his PhD viva, which is this afternoon. Watched several episodes of Spaced.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 19 July 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Friday - After prolonged Thursday ruin, decided to stay in. Invited a couple of friends round and we watched Davina unsuccessfully attempt to be nice to Ahmed.

Saturday - Into a Covent Garden pub at four in order to celebrate the 25th birthday of a good friend of mine, and there was much genial banter. He swung off around 7.30 to go and watch B&S so I walked over the bridge to the pub in Waterloo for MadchenFAP, which was very enjoyable indeed. Then myself, Steve and Lixi got the bus up to Highbury to spend the rest of the night drinking stolen wine and dancing in an enormous house with Colette, Rob and others. I then crashed at Gareth's at a frankly unsociable hour of the morning, which was very nice of him as quite frankly there's no way I would have survived the journey back to SE London at that hour.

Sunday - Woke up in a strange place and listened to someone who might have been Ambrose talking on the phone in the room next to me. But the fear hit so I left quietly, going back home via King's Cross. Where I knew there were ILX mentalists drinking. A part of me briefly toyed with the idea of going into the pub, unshaven, stinking of bouze and fags and wearing the same clothes as the night before. But frankly the idea, while funny, was too horrible to even comprehend for all sorts of reasons. So I went home and arsed around the flat doing very little. My flatmate got back from New York at gone midnight, still on NYC time and very excited about his trip, so we ended up staying late talking. I am very tired - how dare he inflict his jetlag on me?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 19 July 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

FRI: called in sick (not a lie; i've been sick), met ckb at airport, slept off sickness while ckb slept off jet lag, watched the lonely guy, ate yummy jewish deli food at fine and schapiro, saw the spudboys from akron at summerstage (where we ran into alex in nyc), got soaked in cataclysmic rainstorm, came home and drank beer and fell asleep with the tv on.

SAT: went to coney island w/ ckb -- wonder wheel, four games of skee ball, freak show, hot dogs from nathan's, beer at ruby's bar, boardwalk/sand/ocean/rocks, sausage & onion pizza at totonno's (used to be better but still good and the leftovers were even better), home, tv, beer, beer, beer, late-night leftovers, the newlywed game and the magnificent ambersons and the stranger and a bowery boys movie and we finally passed out around 5am.

SUN: woke up really late, watched twee pop-science shows about meerkats and octopuses and what have you, took the boy to the airport, came home and ate dinner and made noise on the boy's guitar. going back to bed very very soon.
