Anyone know a website where I can buy hard to find, cool movie posters?

Somewhere I could find foreign posters, film noir posters, etc, preferably not 11x17 reproductions.

I'm not looking for a site that says "biggest selection of posters ever!" and then merely has 154 variations on posters of The Matrix Revolutions....

um, is http://www.allposters.com/ a dud, then? That's the only one I know off hand, sorry...

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Ideally, a site where I could search for and find several different Godard posters, for example.

x-post

hmmmm pretty much the only one I see online is that goofy italian Breathless poster, and allposters also has le mepris. Now I wanna know if such a place exists too! I'd like to get an Alphaville or Bande A Part poster...

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like any poster with Alain Delon on it.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like a posterized version of the Irène Jacob profile against black background from Rouge.

The Dreaded Rear Admiral (Leee), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

wooooooo! uh, they're a bit pricey Sam. $75-$600 for Godard posters.

Bit late, am.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

in fact, i wouldn't purchase anything there because of their grotesquely inflated prices. i guess you pay for their expertise.

amateur!st (amateurist), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

oh whoops.

Is that the actor who had a son with Nico?

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, indeed, and I only recently found out said fun-fact. What a fucking beautiful-to-an-alien-level child it must have been.

Actually, it probably looked like a potato from all the heroin and what-have-you.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

for some reason an Alain and Nico image search brought forth this:

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

alain is looking kind of rough these days.

amateur!st (amateurist), Friday, 16 July 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Potato it is, then.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 16 July 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

that's the world's loneliest rave tent or something

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 16 July 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

You'd think the love child of Alain Delon and Nico would know how to party.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 16 July 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm curious as to why there's a pay phone affixed to the side of an RV

Or at least wallow in existential dread.

Roxy, if you watch NicoIcon, you can see their son in action at the end. He's a heroin addict, turned on to the drug by his mommy, of course.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 16 July 2004 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Try Larry Edmunds.

nickn (nickn), Friday, 16 July 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost how old is he at that point, Aaron?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 16 July 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I have the DVD-in the film (1995) he looks about my age, 24 or so. Which would make him in his thirties now. I'll watch the scenes germane to this discussion later and post any other details revealed about him in the film here if you're curious.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 16 July 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, his name is Ari Boulogne. He's kinda good looking, resembles a cross between Benicio Del Toro and Gerard Malanga. Speaks fluent English with a French accent. He speaks very highly of Nico and admires her as an artist and "a true gypsy". He's upset that he was seperated from her by the government. He talks about the time he was in a coma and Nico wanted to record the sound of the life support machine and put it on an album. Nico quit heroin in 1986 and was on methadone until she died of a hemmorage in '88. He went to see her body in the morgue. He thought heroin was great at first but now he knows "It's a killer". That's about it.

Why is it I can imagine Frances Bean Cobain giving a similar interview in about 10 years?

AaronHz (AaronHz), Friday, 16 July 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I knew his name was either Ari or, er...Uzi.

hahahaha. tenenbaums, gotcha.

There's an amazing place here in NYC down in NoLita (actually it's really Solita, i believe) called...fuck....what's it called? It's right across from the big police building. Someone must know what I'm talkin' bout. In any event, they have a great Japanese poster for "Apocalypse Now" that I oh so covet.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 17 July 2004 00:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh wait, i'm a tremendous jerk....AskferSam already cited it (http://www.posteritati.com/ )

that place has the most amazing original posters for Giant from countries all over the world. If I ever get rich, I'm decorating my walls exclusively from their collection.
