Ok, my wee brother and I saw this film on Channel 4 a couple of times (we were pretty young so 10 or 12 years ago). It was about a spitting champion told from the point of view of his protegé who, naturally, surpasses him. A crucial scene involves him drinking tea, which indicates that he's given up.
