RFI: American comic actor

Right, this is a whole part of my childhood I'm trying to remember and I need ile's help.
It's an actor/comedian, George something I think, starred in poor
comedy films (thought they were funny at the time of course) mostly
parodying tales and preexisting stories, one weas definitely Robin Hood (which he played). Made in the 1970s, shown on BBC 2 mid to late 80s. His schtick was kind of Phil Silverish, sarcastic, cynical.
Can't remember the other films atall, but I know I saw several.
Can't find anything on IMDB.

Can anyone help?

I haven't seen this guy in anything that dates later than the 70s or early 80s I think...

Okay, via further searching I come up with a made for tv movie
'The Zany Adventures of Robin Hood' 1984. Starring George Segal.

I think this is who I'm looking for. Most of the information I gave was er, wrong. Sorry 'bout that.
