They are not too bright.

No, no, no, what you need is a LABRADOODLE

Labs are dumb as a sack full of really stupid hammers, but ever so adorable (I'm not ordinarily a dog person). Awww.

Labradoodles came about because some blind people are allergic to Labrador fur; poodle 'fur' is actually hair and does not moult in the same fashion as that of other dogs.

Labs smell, drool and fart like no other dog. And might even be dumber than Afghan hounds.

But they're so cute! Look at their little paws and noses!

They appear to be cute - until they learn to convert solid food to methane under Lab conditions.

A couple of friends of mine have labs & they don't seem to have any more problems than anyone else with dogs!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i grew up with two black labs and loved them to bits. one was signigicantly smarter than the boxer we got when they both died. the boxer was dumb as a rock.

the dumb lab had some beagle mixed in, so she always looked like a puppy and never got to full sized. so cute!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Boxers are pretty stupid too; I still maintain the dumbest dog is the Afghan and the smartest, the poodle. Our poodles have always behaved like they were THIS close to knowing how to hotwire the car and order groceries off the internet.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess it depends on the poodle though, cos I've know plenty of dunb poodles!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

\If they let their owners give them those k-stupid haircuts then they must be dumb.

Labs are great, I had one for 13 years and she was the bestest dog ever, even when stealing a 3lb lump of cheese

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

my friend has a big fat GR and she always puts her paw up as if she's saying hello (the dog, not my friend)

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i was reading somewhere that afghan hounds are near the bottom of the smarts scale, but the dumbest breed is actually the chow chow. years of breeding for eating, i guess!

colette (a2lette), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Why is this thread being sullied by this "labs r dumb" talk?

Now, please. Let's just resume the cuteness.
