barcelona - hotel recommendations?

my then wife and i will be in barcelona in late september. we need to reserve a hotel room for two nights and would like to stay in a 3-4 star hotel. it would be great to hear what parts of town you recommend (even better if you know of a specific hotel to look into). thanks so much.

oh, and while we're in barcelona there is a local festival being held called - Festes de la Mercè. not sure if that will affect the part of town we should stay in. the festival sounds amazing.

and thanks to those of you who helped me earlier with my questions about la liga. i now have the full schedule of games (courtesy soccer-spain.com) and we hope to go to sevilla to see a match b/t sevilla and real sociedad.

also google JJ Flats, we got an amazing studio flat for not very much just recentl.
